For my money Leia’s best moment is when she lies about the location of the rebel base and Tarkin believes her. Doesn’t stop him blowing up Alderaan, but he is so mad when he finds out there’s nothing on Dantooine. You gotta figure Tarkin’s good at seeing through deceptions, or he wouldn’t be where he is… but it’s already pretty much canon that Leia’s Force sensitivity helped her resist torture and mind probing, so I don’t think it’s a stretch to suggest that she gave Tarkin just the slightest nudge toward “she’s telling me the truth.”

* There's not enough room for me to elaborate on the Small Town Jobs thing for Obi-Wan because it doesn't have to be in a small town? But saying Small Business doesn't capture it either, since librarian falls into this category. It's like. Hallmark Hero jobs. He's just puttering around doing something really low-stakes.

Marcia Lucas was the editor on 1983’s "Return of the Jedi" and the pre-"Star Wars" George Lucas-directed films "THX 1138" and "American Graffiti."

She was also part of the editing team for director Martin Scorsese’s 1970s films "Taxi Driver," "Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore" and "New York, New York."

Marcia Lucas was often called the unsung hero of "Star Wars," the original film that after sequels, prequels and spinoffs has come to be known by its subtitle, "A New Hope."

She convinced husband George that he should have Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Alec Guinness, in his light saber battle with Darth Vader and become a spirit guide to Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker.

And she had to make sense of the raw footage that could’ve been a mess in the wrong hands, including the climactic rebel attack on the Death Star.

I’m tired of seeing new Jedi introduced just for them to be brutally killed soon after.

I want to see Jedi live. Before, during, and after the empire. I want to see Jedi continue to be Jedi, to feel proud and strong due to being Jedi, to not inevitably find that the only way to survive is to leave behind being Jedi forever. I want to see Jedi passing down their culture to the next generation, despite their fears. I want to see Jedi outliving those that would see them destroyed, again, and again, and again. In a world where a living Jedi is more miraculous than a dead one, watching yet another dramatic death doesn’t feel dramatic, or climactic, or interesting. I just feel tired.
