The RATs bracelet is a cool idea to always have a tourniquet with you. Even if it’s only slightly better then bootlaces.

It was a satirical post made right after @refactortactical posted a pic of the RATs woven in the webbing of one of their seat back covers.

I heard RATs cause nerve damage. Any validity to that?

Well. It isn’t really a yes or no answer. The RATs is more narrow than a traditional tourniquet. A wider tourniquet requires less pressure per square inch to stop blood flow. The more narrow the tourniquet, the more pressure. The maker of the RATs claims that the multiple wraps add to the width. I don’t buy it. In an emergency situation, you aren’t focused on lining your wraps up neatly beside one another. With increased pressure on the tissue (muscles, skin, nerves) comes a higher risk of damage. This is why a hospital’s surgical tourniquet can stay on for 6 or more hours without much risk. Because it is wide. Traditional tourniquets such as the CAR are 1.5 inches. They can normally be left in place fore 4 hours or more with minimal tissue damage risks. Which is why when the maker of the RATs told me that the RATs could be left in place as long as the CAT or SOFTT-W, I call bullshit.

As I read it Egypt was not on the itinerary but the rest was a trip to a war zone, which Trump also took during the shutdown. Again both sides are being petty here

Their pettiness is self-evident, but that’s not surprising. Pelosi wasn’t going to a war zone for her health. I just looked it up, it seems that Pelosi’s spokeman Drew Hammill said that part of the reason for the trip was “to obtain critical national security and intelligence briefings from those on the front lines.” What worries me is that Trump would rather snub a political enemy than allow them to work towards our foreign policy objectives.

sorry to add to the post but I remember in 5th grade when they invented the “smart whiteboard” and my school won one for the library and everyone lost their shit because they were so expensive and I graduated high school last year and by the time I graduated every single classroom had one. Watching technology go from glitchy and expensive to powerful and affordable within less than ten years continues to blow my mind
