Quick shout out to the Down syndrome kid from my after-school program back when I was in grade school. Like yea he had the usual issues but he was a sweetheart and quite funny; and one day both his parents showed up at the same time to pick him up and I had the experience of meeting a family of genetically disabled people that had jobs and a home and a kid in school and it was a profoundly normalizing experience for me like I couldn’t take eugenicists seriously after that because like “no they totally can have whole entire meaningful lives with marriage and children and work and hobbies have you not met Dennis??” Anyway quick shout out to Dennis you were a real one

It's wild to me that there are people who are adamantly against homeschooling because parents aren't certified teachers or have degrees in teaching when there are teachers on TikTok telling people that students are performing several grades below where they're supposed to be.

Clearly doesn't matter if the person is trained or not to teach, apparently. Public schools are not really teaching kids.

Meanwhile, my brother is homeschooling his kids, matching their level of each subject to where they're at, and in many subjects, they're ahead of their peers. In others, they're on par to what their grade would be.

My brother does not have a teaching degree.

#having all the certifications and teaching degrees in the world doesnt matter if the teacher is forced to use a dogshit curriculum #(which is not the teacher's fault but is unfortunately common)#contrastingly someone who doesn't have a formal teaching education can still get pretty far with the right kind of curriculum #remember guys learning is a combination of BOTH the teacher's skill AND the curriculum! not just one or the other!!
