so I don't have like any money but I wanted to get my mom a really thoughtful gift because I don't think I've been showing her enough appreciation for everything she does for me so I got up at 6 in the morning to begin walking around the entire city for three hours searching for all her favorite flowers and my favorite flowers to make a bouquet in a way that shows both of our favorite flowers in the most pretty colors I could find (that still match in a bouquet) and I still need to go back out there because I haven't found any lilies or tulips yet but I'm taking a break now because I walked like 4 kilometers and my feet hurt but I shall keep going because I've already gone this deep into the thoughtfulness I can't stop now its gonna be the best fucking bouquet of flowers ever and I hope she loves all the work I put into finding all our favorite flowers in the wild and picking the most vibrant ones and carefully make sure they will all assemble together nicely. Probably most work I've put into a gift ever but it's gotta be so valuable that not even the richest person on earth would be able to buy something better because the gift is the hours of work and thought put into every flower. Anyway I'm just rambling because I'm just nervous it won't end up great or I can't get all her favorites that I really want to because they haven't bloomed yet but I'll post pics when it's done regardless since I did so much work for this that not memorializing it in image format for the world to see would be an unforgivable crime and most certainly a sin. Also will update on her reaction! Wish me luck on my flower hunting endeavors
So due to the wild weather at the beginning of the year all the domesticated flowers (whatever the opposite of wildflowers is) are very sparse and I was unable to harvest many without ruining a whole plant and I only take excess growth that won't be missed or is already nearing the end of its lifespan so unfortunately I couldn't actually get both our favorite flowers like intended. Instead I decided to go to a hiking park area nearby where the plants are allowed to grow wild and there are tons of wildflowers.
If you don't know much about bouquets or the differences in wildflowers vs flowers you buy at a store: wildflowers have a very unique look to them and a bouquet of them is quite special because not only does it take extensive effort climbing up steep hills and tall grass and stinging nettles, but you need to gather them and put them in water FAST because these things will start wilting like 10-20 minutes after you cut them, especially fast in hot weather. On top of that, if you somehow manage to gather enough flowers and get them in water fast enough and nicely arranged, they have an extremely short lifespan in a vase, they were not meant to be kept indoors, you'll get usually 1-2 days out of them that's it.
But because they're very hard to gather, they have a unique look unlike what you would be able to purchase, and they last a very short amount of time, it's kinda the perfect gift to show someone you love and care about them because no money can buy them, someone will typically need to go out and do tons of work for this, and to get the arrangement to match well on top of that is almost a miracle.
So without further ado, I present my wildflower bouquet I have worked on for my whole morning (about 6 hours because my first batch wilted before I got home as I was too far away when I picked them, and one of my moms favorite wildflowers is extremely fragile, grows in small clusters, typically found on the side of cliffs. And yes I scaled these cliffs to try and harvest some but I came out with three, one of which lost all its petals when a moderate strength gust of wind hit it on my way home and another one lost two of the four petals as I was trying to arrange them before I decided to put them on a separate vase so yes I spent hours hunting fucking flowers in the wilderness in the early morning hours)
And yes she loved it and was extremely appreciative of the effort I put in to give her a meaningful gift so everyone is happy!
UPDATE: She sent a picture of them on her dining table and says they're gorgeous and she loves them!!!
Guys my legs still sting from whatever the fuck I rubbed against, my arms hurt from attempting to pluck the worlds most fragile flower from the side of a cliff, I think I got a bit of a sunburn. Please compliment my choice of flowers and arrangement. I require words of positive feedback from strangers on the internet as well. If you like it tell me you like my damn flowers and I am really good at arranging bouquets of literally whatever flowers I could find growing in a field. Be impressed by my skills please people I actually bled for this art.
