I think it’s hilarious how someone always mentions autistic people with special interests when someone vaguely mentions the phenomenon of Disney adults. I think the heavy majority of Disney adults are not autistic and it is kind of insulting that you assume they are. You think a grown adult who owns a wall of Mickey ears must be autistic because you picture an infantilized caricature when you think of an autistic person. More than that, I, a funny and cultured autistic guy who collects stickers and rocks, should be allowed to mock Disney adults regardless of if they’re neurodivergent or not.

Every once in awhile I'll stumble upon a Reddit post that used a gif from the movie Reel Steel and click on the thread to find everyone glazing the shit out of it when all I remember was when my 9th grade Biology put it on one time before Winter Break and it got to that part where he's seeing his son for the first time in awhile and his son is like "I can speak directions to the robot in Japanese— [proceeds to say English direction transliterated into Japanese]!" and physically feeling my eyes roll out of my skull

There's a special power in being the kind of person who can ABSOLUTELY tell the difference between refresh rates/resolutions/audio quality but ALSO being the kind of person who genuinely does not give a shit (read; has the "if it runs it runs" outlook) because it pisses off people who DO CARE about these things so much it's so funny

idk man. i just think itd be really cool if sign language classes were mandatory throughout primary school. yeah because it would make communication with deaf kids and autistic/nonverbal kids much easier. and those kids would be accessible to the others so they could make friends and have healthy relationships. yeah. and kids would eat that shit up man. like their own little secret language? they love that.

Besides the fact that it's extremely important for accessibility and communicating with disabled people (although that should be enough to teach it in schools anyway), imagine how useful it would be for everyone if sign language was a standard skill that people were expected to know, the same as reading and writing.

Construction workers would be able to communicate effortlessly, even with loud equipment running. The same goes for chefs, people who work with animals, mechanics, or literally anyone else who works in loud environments. You could have full conversations while someone in the house is sleeping, with no fear of waking them up. You could talk at a restaurant or a bar or a party without issue, even with loud music playing or multiple conversations happening at once. If your microphone or speakers stop working on a zoom meeting you could explain/fix the problem without issue. People who loose their hearing with age wouldn't have to learn a whole new language, nor would they loose the ability to communicate easily with their loved ones–it would already be second nature.

Imagine how amazing this world would be. Imagine how accessible it would be.

#when I was in summer latchkey as a 5-8 year old they tried to teach us asl but they never progressed beyond teaching us vocabulary #and in high school they had an asl class but there was like maybe two periods for it so getting in that class was a bit of a blood bath #which because they didn't advertise asl being an option to begin with I never tried for it #like here if you want to learn asl you gotta go out of the way to a place dedicatedly teaching it #and like #sometimes I think about this and it's weird because why do we have a robust communication option for deaf people but those of us who can #hear aren't taught it if even exposed to it in the first place like...? that's really isolating?#which is probably the point #but still #reblog

it's really funny reading reddit threads about whether or not people like aloy falling in love with seyka in forbidden west's dlc campaign, because one of the big detractor groups are detractors not because of it "being rushed" or whatever but because they ship aloy with talanah

...a character who is comically easy to completely miss entirely. like. she's the main character of a really elaborate/major side quest in zero dawn, but to trigger it you have to talk to some random banuk guy tucked away in the game's city hub and he points you to the even more out of the way hunter's lodge where it all takes place. you can walk past this without ever knowing about it. I should know.... I did that. I had ZERO clue who this woman was when I accidentally stumbled upon the equally just out of the way side quest she has in forbidden west while I was trying to do a different side quest and had to look her up. and that forbidden west side quest has you help her track down an old lover of hers.

so it's really funny to me seeing the major "I don't like the game's intended relationship for aloy" detraction being because they want this character specifically

#not to say it isn't understandable #it's just funny to me because it is like the MAIN reason why people are eh about aloy and seyka #like talanah and her sidequest are fan favorites and I just... managed to completely miss it #idk #lol

I don't believe in christian babies. I believe in babies, i believe in christians, but a baby doesn't have the agency and cognitive abilities required to chose and/or live a faith. There's babies of christian parents, of course, as well as babies that have been introduced into the system that is the christian church, but that does not make them christian yet.
