the most important thing is to not spend too much time on a page. find some references you like, or even get a mirror and reference your own face, and just draw! ideally, you should be able to get a whole page done in 5 minutes. draw big, draw fast, and draw loose. if you don't particularly like how a face came out, just move on, and try and draw another while keeping in mind what exactly it was that you didn't find appealing. maybe the eyes seemed to be in a different perspective than the rest of the face. that's fine! be more aware of that in your next attempt. these aren't meant to be finished or beautiful pieces, it's only practice, and is more about learning than anything. if you aren't making mistakes, you aren't doing it right, because that means you aren't learning! and if you find the thought frustrating, focus on making yourself more comfortable with imperfection.

it's like climbing a mountain. it's definitely intimidating, and everybody has a different approach, and you will inevitably get scraped by a branch or trip and fall. remember that in choosing to climb, you are choosing perseverance and discomfort in exchange for the experience, and the reward of having made it to the summit. and you must love both! the journey is just as important, anyone who hikes, or draws, would tell you that, scrapes and all. and think about it: the times you fell were also the times you got back up!
