Today was the day. The day you’d be giving yourself to a whole stranger. The day you dreaded ever since your parents have told you about your arranged marriage. You thought they were kidding at first, but how seriously your mother has spoken about your betrothed had you slowly losing hope of what you deemed to be some practical joke.
You sat in front of the triple vanity mirror as they started fixing your hair and makeup. You were sick to your stomach knowing what your future husband would be like and being married to him for life. Snapping fingers caught your attention as you were removed from your thoughts.
“Y/N, have you been paying any attention to what I’ve been telling you?” Your mother asks in disbelief as she paces the floor.
“Mother, it’s always the same information you drill into my head.” You snap as you focus on the face that looked vaguely like yours in the mirror. “Be a good wife. Have children for him. Speak politely. God, this isn’t the 1500th century where woman had no say in things.” You remind her snatching a bottle of champagne from the wine tray next to you and taking the alcohol straight from the bottle.
She grabs the bottle from your lips as she makes a comment of how careless you were in drinking in your wedding dress. “The last thing we need is our bride throwing up on her husband the night of the wedding. You’d be lucky if he wouldn’t want to divorce you by the end of your first month together!” Her voice sounded threatening, but that’d just mean you’re lucky if you two got a divorce. With a roll of your eyes, you sighed and let them finish up your makeup.
The next thing you knew, you were walking down the aisle towards your mystery husband. His back was faced towards you, until you were close to the minister. He turns and holds his hand out for you to take, guiding you closer towards him. Seeing his face for the first time, surprised you. His face was way different from how you expected it to be. He maintained his serious facade, but was still somehow soft when it came into looking in your eyes.
You said your vows and it was time for the kiss. He securely held your waist as the other hand rested on the back of your neck as he softly kisses your lips. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t want the kiss to last longer, but he held your hand as you both made it into the car.
“You are not what I imagined you to be.” You admitted with a small giggle as you both sat so closely to each other. Your hand lingered closer to his as it slowly intertwined your fingers with his.
His smile was gleaming as he brought your intertwined hands to his lips, kissing the back of your hand. “All good things, I hope,” he comments as the driver starts taking you two to the reception.
“Nothing about you being handsome.” You flirt back a bit, holding his chin with your free hand. “I practically had a year’s worth of surprises, so tell me, what’ll the honeymoon be like?” You ask, looking down at his lips, lifting his chin close to your lips. You wanted to kiss him again, but you wondered if that’d make it more awkward between you two.
“A luxurious hotel that I own with white sandy beaches. Our private pool with our own wait staff.” His voice was low as his eyes were on your lips, wanting to kiss them again. “Late night swimming or walks on the beach,”
The car comes to a stop and a security guard opens the door for you both. Jackson comes out first and he holds his hand out for you to take. His fingers held you gently, but firm enough to securely help you in your wedding gown. Both sets of parents were there waiting by the entrance for your arrival as the four greeted with a warm smile towards you. Your mother tapped the bottom of her chin with the back of her hand, informing you to keep your head up. In response, you ignored her and kept your pace walking with Jackson.
“That sounds amazing.” You whisper as the bodyguards in front of the door opens them for the six of you to pass through. “But I still find it rather odd that my father’s shipping company would have to form a merger by an arranged marriage,” you lightly giggle as you look over at Jackson.
His features suddenly became like stone as his smile dropped. Something appeared over his eyes that you weren’t able to understand. On the other side of you, your father glared over at Jackson, while it didn’t cross your mind why his mood suddenly changed.
The reception didn’t start until you all walked down the carpet, greeting your guests on the way to your table. Jackson stayed rigid next to you as he didn’t let a smile perk up on his lips. You wondered if it was something you said about the two companies merging as you took your seats up in the front stage, facing everyone. He was no longer holding your hand then, as you kept your hands on your lap the whole time. He barely spoken a full sentence to you almost half the night as you questioned if this marriage was really just a company merger. This was what you feared. A loveless marriage. His personality changed in the blink of an eye and you were still figuring out what made him so upset.
“What’s his deal?” Your best friend, Irene, nudged you as Jackson was making rounds talking business with other company owners off the stage.
Thoughts swirled in your head as you worried if what he said in the car were complete lies, if he was really romantic or he was thinking of shipping you off to spend the honeymoon alone. “As if I know,” You playfully scoff with a light roll of your eyes. “This whole thing is just a stupid business merger. He’s probably an asshole, anyway.” You grabbed another champagne glass full of alcohol and chugged it down.
Irene sighs, disapprovingly as she shakes his head at him. “But wouldn’t you still wanna fuck that?” She asks, bending her neck to the side, getting a good angle of his ass
“Of course, I would. He’s my man now.” You smirk at her and wrap your arm around hers. “I’m married to him, so that dick could only go in me now.” You send her a playful wink, making you both giggle.
“If you ever want a threesome, I’d be willing to join your little party,” She offers, watching Jackson intently as you were. “Or I could watch, whichever one you need me for,” She shrugs with a small smile as you nudge her shoulder with yours.
You and Irene may have a strange best friend relationship, but you understand one another. Maybe because both your fathers were best friends, you became best friends growing up and went through the same things together. Like when you two were really young riding bikes and Irene broke her left arm when you both crashed. Later, you broke your right arm when you accidentally fell off the trampoline.
“Maybe I’ll take you up on that offer, if Jackson and I ever do have sex.” You agreed and bit your bottom lip, watching his swiftly walking around the ballroom.
“I hope you do. Maybe some dick in you will help relax those muscles.” She playfully sticks her tongue out and you couldn’t help, but let out a giggle.
Your gaze soon feel to the empty glass in your hand. “Jackson’s just… so difficult to understand right now. He wants me, but later he treats me like I’m invisible. Like, pick a mood and stick to it, geez.” You huff as you slam the glass on the table.
“I was hoping we’d both be in a romantic mood this evening,” a male voice adds in, making your eyebrows pull together in confusion. Your eyes averted to the source of the sound and it was Jackson slowly approaching the two of you. “I was being honest about the honeymoon, that is, if you’d still want to go with me.” His eyes were soft again as he takes your hand in his and kiss the back of it once more.
“Are you eavesdropping on me now?” You ask, adding a bit of attitude to your voice. “I was just going to invite my best friend Irene to take your place, since you seem so busy,” you sighed, crossing your arms and turning away from him.
His arm lands on your waist, pulling you closer to him again. “We could invite her to another holiday trip. But for our honeymoon, I really want it to be just the two of us, darling.” He draws you closer as his tongue slips between his lips and wets his bottom lip. Your bodies holding close against each other as he securely held an arm around your waist.
“My offer still stands.” Irene mentions, leaving you with a wink before she joins the party again.
Jackson cocks an eyebrow at you in question as you shake your head to dismiss whatever his thought is. “Only me and nothing related to business or I’m leaving.” You set your rules for him with every ounce of seriousness on your face, leaving all jokes out of your conversation.
“You have my word.” A smile spreads on his lips as he agrees, holding your face in his hands and giving your forehead a kiss
