Okay, insane theory, but - what if Taln didn't know that Breaking was an option? Remember, he joins the oathpact last, he isn't present at most of the discussion. What if for him it was like "for the good of Roshar you must suffer this torment for however long neccecary". Why do you mention eye colour?
Because, unfortunately, some people began equating eye color with divine right to rule or some similar crem.
Why did they start doing that? Did it start because the Knights Radiant's eyes change colour as the Nahel bond develops, or am I thinking in the wrong direction?
