The older one, Modi, has Loki’s facial features and a darker shade of Thor’s blonde hair. He is wise and obedient, knowing he has to inherit the throne one day.

Another Anon Ask: What is an ideal Thorkling supposed to look like? Assuming it is male. Will it have Thor’s blonde hair or Loki’s dark locks? Will it have Thor’s eyes or Loki’s? Please tell me!!! 

Ah, thorklings!

In my opinion, it’s a genetic roulette wheel when it comes to Thor and Loki’s babies. Anything is possible. I may pick a more jötunn child if it’s a story where I’m really trying to underline Loki’s heritage—kind of like what I’m doing in In Side Out, which is basically a great big “Loki coming to terms with being a frost giant” fic (and having lots of sex with Thor ofc). 

For a human AU I’d naturally go with the standard human baby stuff. Perhaps the thorkling will take after one parent more than the other—Thor’s blond hair and build with Loki’s cunning, mischievous personality, or Loki’s dark hair and slim frame with Thor’s affable, laughable nature. Or maybe (more realistically) their traits are equally matched and we end up with a thorkling who has brown hair and teal eyes, a tall-medium build, and is very astute yet easygoing. 

Perhaps Thor has a red-headed gene and the kid ends up with flaming ginger hair. Or—and here we’re going back to canon again—maybe Loki’s jötunn genes are really strong and he and Thor have a baby with blue skin and blue eyes and everything is blue da ba dee da ba dah. Maybe it’s even a giant kid! Hey, it’s possible.

It’s fun, this mix-and-match. Did you ever do Punnett Squares in school? That was the highlight of freshman year biology for me. I would draw them for fun, typically with a flair of fantasy to them. Kitsune and werewolves and all that.

Speaking of which, I think it’d be hilarious and very appropriate if, out of Thor and Loki’s mostly-humanoid children, the odd monster popped up. Maybe something to do with Loki’s shapeshifting shenanigans mutating his eggs so that the family portrait hanging over the fireplace is of two proud parents and their three kids, one of whom happens to be a giant wolf. Or maybe the opposite: all of the thorklings are monsters except for one completely normal kid who is considered the “odd one” of the family but is nonetheless loved, just as the monster kids are.
