In which Zelda and Tulin return to Rito Village with one gigantic flying surprise
So it turned out that the Stormwind Ark could be steered. The ship was still fully functional. Tulin cackled with sheer glee and Zelda wasn’t far behind.
She put her foot down on letting him steer, however.
“I’m not gonna crash, Zel!” Tulin said indignantly, wings crossed.
Zelda, giving all her concentration to steering safely, only shot him a quick glance.
“There are so many islands and ships up here,” she said. “The Hebra Mountains are right below us. I’m steering.”
He huffed and sulked until she let him take the Purah Pad. Then he was happily distracted taking pictures: Zelda steering, almost every inch of the bridge, the view from the windows…Zelda nodded in approval. Tulin knew her too well, and his curiosity matched her own.
For now, she focussed on steering and imagined everyone’s reactions when they arrived back at Rito Village with this ark. She could worry about telling Teba and Saki about Tulin being the new Sage when they arrived.
This was a victory, Zelda reminded herself. And she meant what she said to Medval; if a single feather on Tulin’s head was harmed, she would hunt Medval through the Sacred Realm. Saki and Teba would absolutely join her.
Really, Teba thought he’d seen it all. Six years ago, he dodged Vah Medoh’s lasers with Link and befriended Master Revali’s ghost, keeping the teenage Champion company whenever he could. He watched golden light cover the sky and knew Calamity Ganon was dead. Then the Upheaval happened and this record-breaking blizzard struck overnight. He fought old and new monsters alike, trying to keep his people from starving to death.
Now the storm stopped. Just like that. The snow and ice were still immensely thick but the gloom was gone from the snow; the insane wind stopped, the clouds cleared, the snow ceased to fall.
“They did it,” he sighed in relief, leaning against the open door of his roost.
“I knew they would,” Sidon said proudly.
Saki stood with her wings crossed, watching the sky anxiously, awaiting Tulin and Zelda’s return.
And then, perhaps an hour later, as the sun was beginning to set…
“What in the world is that!?” Yona yelped, pointing skyward. A massive dark shape was flying straight for the village. As it came closer, Teba’s eyes widened.
It was a ship. No, not just a ship. An ark.
“There’s no way…” He shook his head in disbelief. Kass hummed The Song of the Stormwind Ark, surrounded by Amali and their daughters.
“Holy shit,” Yuki said.
“That’s a really big boat,” Ivy added.
Teba and Saki immediately took to the air. The ark, the Goddess-damned Stormwind Ark, stopped above Vah Medoh’s perch. It slowly lowered until it wasn’t so insanely high anymore; it floated perhaps where Medoh’s head once was. High, yes, but easy for any Rito to reach.
“Mom! Dad!” Tulin leaned out of a window, waving eagerly, grinning fit to burst. His eyes sparkled with delight and Teba was relieved to see he only looked ruffled and tired, no major injuries to be seen. “Look what we found!”
They flew right up to the window. Behind Tulin, Zelda still had both hands on the wheel and gave them a sheepish grin.
“It’s a long story,” she said.
“I’ll bet,” Teba scoffed, almost laughing. “You do realise Kass is going to grill you both for details as soon as we’re done with you? He already has several song ideas.”

I always found it interesting that the temples are just...there. The Stormwind Ark is still by Rito Village. I wonder, do they go on vacations there or something? Who's even maintaining that thing anymore?
To this day I still don't understand what the fuck the Stormwind Arc legend in TotK is about. I've watched so many theory videos and read so many reddit posts and no-one seems to really understand or agree on anything.
So like - the wind vanishes and the Rito are sad because they can't fly without it. Then some god (a zonai?) fell from the sky, and they want to help him get home. He asks them to build a shit ton of boats so they do, and he makes the boats fly so he can go home. Then as a reward for their help he gives them another ship that brings the wind back.
Just. What is this a reference to?? Nothing about this I ever explained. There's never any clarity over who the god was or why the boat brings the wind or why the wind was gone in the first place.
Please Nintendo I need answers I can't write fanfiction under these conditions.
More of the Corrupted Link AU... in sketch form because I'm kinda lazy.
When I said Hyrule may be screwed I wasn't entirely truthful… it still has its share of heroes, and two of them live in the Rito Village.
Tulin still heads off to discover the truth about the Stormwind Ark, but since Link isn't there to help Teba follows his son there instead.
Together they're able to defeat Colgera, but Teba gets injured during the fight by an arrow that came from...somewhere... they never saw whoever shot it... The ancient sage appears and offers his secret stone to either of them, they are both his descendants after all, but Teba insists Tulin take it. Since he knows the world will need his help urgently, and with his injured wing (the arrow coated in gloom so it won't be an easy fix) Tulin is the better option.

Everyone remembers the Rito siblings in breath of the wild right? They take part in song that doubles as a fun little shrine quest. Well, In tears of the kingdom when you head to Rito Village you find it abandoned save for Tulin and his parents, and these girls. If you talk to them you discover that while all the adults are scavenging for food and trying to stop the blizzard threatening them these girls are single handily keeping the village together.
Rito village is in a very dire situation, their is no food and the Hylians are unable to reach them to provide them with provisions or aid. This has forced all able bodied rito to fight off monsters, scavenge for food, and try to stop the blizzard. The girls act like they don’t know how close they are to deaths door, but most of them appear to be Tulins age. That means that they are probably intentionally hiding how dire the situation is from their youngest sister in order to keep her from panicking.
But as sad as this is, the way they broke my heart was by warming it. Their running the village and what do they do in their spare time? They sing about an ark that once brought salvation to the rito in the past. The girls comment that if they practice enough, maybe one day the ark will hear them and come to rescue the rito. This idea is filled with so much childlike hope and innocence. It broke my heart, thier doing all they can and while an adult would say that that idea was pointless, they truly believe it. The world takes that kind of hope away from us when we get older, and seeing these girls display it was truly heartwarming.
As you play you do see the Stormwind ark is indeed real and it serves as a dungeon for the games story. The Wind sage talks about Hyrule, the ark came to pass the mantle on to Tulin, who would aid Hyrule. We don’t know how the Dungeon boss got in the ark, but we can assume it was due to Ganondorf. While that did bring the blizzard to Rito village, it also brought part of Hyrules hope along with it. The same kind of hope the girls had
If just for them, I would like to believe the Wind sage heard their song and allowed the ark to be seen from the village at the end just for them. Can you imagine? The storm clears and they look up to the the silhouette of a large ship. “Look at that! We did it! Our song worked!”
This storytelling really affected me, I almost cried when I heard what those sisters were doing. It warmed my heart so much.

How to cross the Rito Village bridge in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, including how to get to Rito Village in TOTK by not taking cold frost da
I wasn't too much of a fan of how the problems would just disappear once you defeated a main boss in tears of the kingdom. For example, having the blizzard stop would probably have been enough to save rito village, but they instead had all the snow melt in an instant.
