So this is probably gonna piss everyone off by me asking because I know people have a tendency to self diagnose, but I just wanted some opinions from people before I decide to get a proper opinion from a doctor as to if it may be what I think it is.
Basically, some time during school (I don’t even remember when, I just know it was sometime early last year, btw I’m currently 18) I started to become hyper aware of my breathing. Like, so badly that I couldn’t concentrate in class. It was mostly that I felt I was breathing too heavily and loudly, or that it sounded shakey or something to the people around me. It has kind of gotten worse, so bad that sometimes I feel like I can’t breathe. In order to avoid deep breaths I’m constantly trying to yawn and shit to try and cover it up, but that just makes it obvious.
I took to searching up on the internet asking why I’m self conscious of my breathing (thinking maybe it was anxiety, which I was diagnosed with about 6 years ago) and I read something about somatic OCD. I then did some extra research, and I actually tick a lot of the boxes for the symptoms, but I just wanted to make sure that this hyperawareness of my breathing was actually a symptom of it before I go to a doctor for a proper opinion.
