Somatic OCD: a subtype of OCD where obsessions center on bodily sensations. People with S-OCD* are hypervigilant of their automatic bodily sensations such as breathing, blinking, and heartbeat. Many will assign overwhelmingly excessive significance to any percieved “abnormalities” and fear that they are far more concerning than they would be for anyone else. Another aspect involves being so hyper-aware of one’s bodily sensations that they overwhelm the thoughts of the individual with S-OCD; they are unable to think about anything but these sensations. Compulsions may include counting breaths/blinks/heartbeats, attempting to control these automatic sensations, and frequently checking pulse. Like all types of OCD it manifests in many different ways unique to the individual experiencing it; these are just common examples.
Colors represent breath and pulse.
