Hi! The river is a separate plane of existence where people go after they die— it’s the transition period between life and the afterlife. It’s an endless expanse of grey water, with a current that pulls you and urges you to lay down and float with it (which will then ‘carry you’ into death).

When Lawrence was a child, he drowned in a lake, but miraculously came back to life. He died, saw the river, and was pulled back out— something no one usually does.

Lawrence came to view the river as the ‘truth’, and sees reality almost like a dream sometimes. Now, as an adult, Lawrence uses homemade drugs/plant toxins to put himself on the edge of death with the hopes of seeing the river again and staying there permanently.

Somewhere between the events of BTD2 and TPOF, Lawrence decided to go deep into the mountains and lay in a pond— this put him in the river, where he stayed for a long time (all while his physical body was decaying in the water).

Over time, he saw many people pass through the river (which were actually Mason’s victims that he killed) so he decided to go back to the physical world to see where all the souls were coming from. His body was very decayed, and his head was missing, so he replaced it with a deer skull he found lying around. That’s when we meet him in Mason’s route— so yes, the lich is Lawrence.

I agree, Ren will be terrified once it sinks in what he’s just done.

He’ll definitely be punished— he completely disobeyed Strade and let his captive escape (who could tell the police). Ren will also probably be locked downstairs for a few days as a precaution in case anyone stops by. Strade will be very upset.

Well, even if MC has internet access, Fox still monitors it and has restrictions in place. You may be able to have social media, for example, but you can’t message anyone or post anything, it’s only for entertainment. Texting is definitely off limits except for him and maybe one of his trusted employees for emergencies.

Do you think there’s a chance that Derek bests him in someway? If the two of them can have some equal standing between them? Or will it be Derek being noncon by Mason over and over

No, there is no way Derek could ever win— because he has no idea what he’s doing. Derek is careless. He’s also been brought up in an estate with servants/home workers, and has never learned an ounce of wilderness survival.

He wouldn’t know he’s being hunted (he would, but he wouldn’t know how to recognize the signs when Mason is closing in, such as lack of bird sounds) and wouldn’t hide well.

Mason would see Derek’s immaturity, there’s no way the two of them could be equals. Derek wouldn’t be able to beat him.

It depends on your relationship. If you're close, or better yet in love, he's okay being more vulnerable with you and will talk to you before his heat about you helping him once it starts.
