Straight ships are only good when they're doomed and tragic. They can't live happily ever after one of em has to die or turn evil or get trapped in a different dimension or have their memory erased or some shit. The happy ending has to be within reach, so close they can taste it, then get that yanked away. Whoever's still alive by the end has to be haunted by what could've been. It didn't have to end this way but it did. Otherwise it's boring as hell.
