if you are upset about 12-year-old girls at sephora, please understand that this issue does not exist in a vacuum. these girls are deeply anxious about their appearance. girls feel this way for many reasons:
every woman on tv wears makeup
most women on social media wear makeup
most women in her life wear makeup
she is constantly hearing that "a woman's job is to look young forever"
the women in her life complain about wrinkles
the people in her life tell her she needs to be pretty
the people in her life tell her she needs to wear makeup
makeup is marketed towards women and girls people will act shocked that girls respond to these messages that are everywhere! and instead of telling girls that these beauty standards need to be rejected, they tell them that they're just "too young" for them, that their skin is already "perfect" and the products will damage it. but looking "young forever" is the goal; within the logic of beauty standards, it makes perfect sense to start young. what these girls need to hear is that they do not need to be beautiful. that beauty is not a purpose in life or an achievement or a hobby. if you want to help these girls' self esteem, you might consider abandoning makeup altogether. these companies are evil; the more insecure women and girls are, the more money they make. if every woman rejected beauty standards tomorrow, girls would be far more confident in accepting their natural faces. it is so depressing to see girls wasting their youth by obsessing over preserving it. we can help them by setting an example as confident, unbothered women.
honestly even if ur kids are addicted to screens and need to quit , these people hate addicts too like why is ur only solution to cold turkey lock them out and laugh at/mock them having WITHDRAWALS instead of going "hey , I made a mistake in how i parented that's causing u harm , lets slowly change that" (we know why)
Not going to lie, hung out with my nephews this morning, they were watching a movie on some kind of streaming service, and were almost in frustration tears at the disruptiveness and repetitiveness of the ads
I feel like this the true capitalism final boss for gen alpha; zero attention span, finally has the motivation to watch something, and then boom one million obnoxious and predatory ads
