It's my third and final collaboration for the @spnangelbang this round, and I was delighted to get to work with saudade again! I submitted this first piece below for claims, wanting to do another take on Castiel in his trueform watching over Dean (a subject I've done before but I feel like my take on it keeps evolving!)

I didn't have a super-particular prompt in mind beyond that, but was delighted by the direction saudade decided to go with it. I just had to do another scene from the story which I think should hit some familiar notes (even if again we see Castiel in trueform for it.)

For the most part these are not my experiences, and one of the things I love about writing is getting to be in someone else’s head. There are other versions of Dean I could and might write one day, and who might be more stable, or get off on pain instead of softness, who are cockier, or more bookish, or disabled. And any one of those changes would radically shift the way I filter the world through his eyes, his responses, and his actions. Whenever plot happens, I am considering what this Dean would do and why, what’s in the back of his mind, what he wants most, what he’s afraid of, and then moving forward from there. Those things are not me or my feelings about a situation. Often, he does things that surprise me! Things I cringe at or am moved by, things I am not brave or stupid enough to ever do.
