Hey, all.

Please make sure that if you’re sharing your agab in your ask it’s because it’s strictly necessary and not because you’re struggling with internalized cissexism and think you need to share it to prove you’re somehow valid and the “right” kind of nonbinary person or because strangers on the internet are somehow inherently owed that very private information.

This is not a specific call out - this is a widespread issue in society in general - but it can honestly be really triggering when every single ask includes an agab for seemingly no reason beyond the cisnormative lie that all we are is our bodies and what really matters is our genital configuration rather than the fact that we’re people deserving of respect and privacy.

No worries about the wording, I’m generally pretty lenient about interpreting asks and wouldn’t have thought your wording to be rude. 

Dmab is short for designated male at birth, which is a synonym for assigned male at birth (amab). Similarly, Dfab is short for designated female at birth, which is a synonym for assigned female at birth (afab). And although you didn’t ask about it, dgab is short for designated gender at birth, which is a synonym for assigned gender at birth (agab). 

These are terms that can be useful for talking about trans experiences. For example, a trans person might find using AGAB language to be more comfortable and useful talking about what it was like growing up in the closet, or challenges faced while transitioning due to how transphobia is directed differently at different people based on their AGAB/presentation, since it avoids using language like “when I used to be ___”.
