See, y’all love letting people mischaracterize and misrepresent Sam, and mislead you about the things he’s said and done in canon, because at the end of the day y’all do not actually care about the Sam Wilson character outside of his relationship with Bucky. A lot of people who call themselves “Sam Wilson fans” are anti-Sam and anti-Black, and specifically anti-Black Americans, and we all know it because we all see it — we all see the fics they write, and the posts they share, like, and reblog, and the tweets they happily make. And yet, a lot of you do not care. You don’t care about anti-Black racism and you don’t care about Sam being used as a prop or a self insert, and you certainly don’t care about the fetishization of Black characters. You only care about Bucky, and we all know it. And I’ll never apologize, or feel bad, or feel wrong, for pointing out the fucked up way y’all discuss Sam Wilson, whether it be in the context of canon or fanon. And anyone who doesn’t like my opinions — opinions that are based entirely on what I’m observing in this fandom every single day, and what I’ve been observing for YEARS — can go straight to hell.

Like it's been a long day, he's jet lagged, he hasn't found Bucky yet. Just let him sit down and be swarmed by all the kitties who need a little love. And he loves it. He could stay there all day.
And maybe Bucky sees him at it. Just calm and chill and gentle and enjoying the peace. And maybe Bucky thinks "Hmm, maybe I should trust this guy after all. Cats are an excellent judge of character."
And not to steal Catwoman's line from The Batman, but Sam definitely has "a thing about strays". After all, Sam let Steve and Nat into his home right away after turning up unannounced on his doorstop covered in muck. That's a very cat person thing to do.

Which is why after they're all arrested Sam asks T'Challa that out of nowhere. Because it's on his mind after they've been caught.

You know, there are so many accounts I almost included, because they had a couple of good fics or maybe even a whole run of good fics, but I simply couldn’t because they shared something side-eye inducing at some point either here or on ao3. However, with the authors mentioned above, you at least shouldn’t ever be pausing your reading and looking at the screen wondering how in the hell Sam could ever want to be with the Bucky they’ve written lolnolol. Additionally, some of them have written non-romantic Sam centric fics too, or have written Sam with other romantic partners besides Bucky. Enjoy!
