Honestly, I want to go back to when I went by kit but I'm also scared... I mean it's a version of my deadname. Only people close to me know my deadname.
I will eat you alive before I let your teeth scrap against that name again.
I guard the name my parents gave me like a rabid fox guards its den. I keep it locked away behind metal doors and heavy chains and I bury it all as deep as can go. I tear it off of papers and screens and people’s mouths until there is nothing left of it. I melt the letters of it and wish it could sizzle blazing hot against the tongue of anyone who dare utter it still.
I forget chores and places and feelings yet that name sticks to me like glue. The metal doors and heavy chains and dirt might keep it away from the world; it does not keep it away from me.
I know when my father says Li he think [ ]. I know when he says Li he thinks daughter. He forcefully keeps it on the surface, reshapes the letters I melt and refuses to let the doors close.
I will bury the memory of him if he does not let it go. I will burn the world until that name is forgotten entirely; until there is nothing left of it at all, except maybe for the erased shape of it on class photos from primary school.
Name
Hi!
To my few followers and people who may see this post,
I'm testing a new name
If you don't know yet, I'm multigender genderfluid and brazilian. I kinda like my birthname (in the original spelling, "") but I was looking for a better one lately. Mine is kinda fem, and it has indigenous origin, so I was looking for something indigenous for my new name (after trying out some african pretty neutral names), which turned out to be a great idea, since here (Brazil) many names are from indigenous origin, and damn, those languages influence very much our portuguese, so it doesn't sounds weird or really foreign like the ones I tried before.
It's Caiuah.
The original graphy is "Caiuá" but I changed the spell a few times to fit my likes. It's a naturally neutral name, and I even came up with a nickname already! (Cai) It means "the one who lives in the wild" but fuck it, I'm a (average) big city kid but I'm keeping it for the vibes.
So, yea. I'm trying it out.
I usually go by my birthname but I've been thinking about changing it to a kind of more androgynous name for a while now and I really like Floh, in my language that means flea and I think it's kind of funny bc if I tell somebody my name is Floh they'll think it's Flo as a nickname for Florentine or Florian but it's just a the name for a fucking bug that drinks your blood and lives in your hair hah

Tell People A Fake Birthname!
A lot of people when they find out I'm trans ask me, "So what's your birthame?" and I've gotten used to it, and I always feel rude not to respond in some way or tell them that they're being rude because some people don't understand not to ask it. So I always give a fake birthname! I have told people my birthname is Lucy, (Similar to Lucas) or the other female birthname my birth giver would of given me; Courtney. This way when people try to be nasty and call me Lucy or Courtney, I don't get offended, I just laugh. I really recommend it. No one will ever know my true birth name :)
Basic Trans etiquette
In light of Elliot Page coming out, I’ll remind you of basic trans etiquette. Media, takes notes.
Never use their birth name, there’s a reason we refer to it as our “dead name”
“She is now a he” or “he is now a she” is hurtful and one of the worst things to say
Use the right name and pronouns and correct the people that don’t
Don’t ask people about their genitalia or their sex life
Don’t ask trans people what surgeries they plan on having or what surgeries they have had
Don’t “out” a trans person (remember trans people get murdered for being themselves)
Use terms like “cisgender” instead of “normal”
Don’t ask a transgender what their “real name” is
If you know someone that’s trans, be a good ally, learn more about trans people by your own initiative
