.r.etrain the pattern to make the body better. . Movement Pattern # 880 SwissBall kneeling circuit. . Focus: Core stability, pelvic stability, adductors. . Difficulty: 15/20 . Today I taught my HardCore class at @stormstrength that comprises of lots of mums. Post-pregnancy much of the core control is lost due to overstretched abdominals, distended pelvic floor, and some times Diastasis Recti, or C-section. In the gym pregnancy should be treated as a major injury where women are encouraged to get back to gentle, functional training, simple core work but mostly stability training to start. The hormone Relaxin's effects, which facilitates birth, stick around for 5 months+, and sometimes longer meaning that although you may feel ready to jump back into the game it is recommended that you start gently. . Unfortunately if you have a Diastasis Recti (splitting of the abdominals) these challenges can be longer term. Whilst doing core is a "good idea", not all movements are recommended. . Balancing on the ball, is a great way to firm the tummy back up whilst also allowing yourself to have a little fun, strengthening the lower back and stabilizing the pelvic floor. . Here is a set of progressions (that build on eachother) to try over a 4 week period: 1. 4 point - kneeling + hands. 2. Kneeling 3. Kneeling with hips pushed forwards and glutes engaged slightly. 4. Kneeling with chest raised and eyes above the horizon. 5. Kneeling with lateral and front raises. 6. Kneeling with straight arm overhead lifts. 6. Kneeling with 1 hand lateral, front and overhead raises. 7. Kneeling while bouncing a ball off a wall to yourself. 8. Kneeling and placing the ball on the ground and picking it up. 9. Kneeling, bending at hips and arms extended behind you. 10. Catch with a friend 11.
