Sometimes I forget that not everyone is aroace and I make a comment like: “romance is overrated” or “I think kissing is kinda gross” and all my friends look at me weird and I have to explain myself

I don’t find my bfs sexy, there’s nothing about them that makes me think ‘mmmph gimme that, I want that’, and I often feel bad about it, like I’m not contributing to the relationship enough because I don’t sexually desire their bodies. I wanna snuggle because they’re warm and I like them and feel safe with them. I wanna smooch em’ because it feels nice and sweet and warm and always causes butterflies even after a full year together. I wanna hold their hands because I want to reassure them and get reassurance in return. But when they compliment the way I look, or one says about the other ‘Sini, isn’t he sexy?’, I never know what to say. I simply don’t. I don’t want to say anything outside of “yeah!” because I don’t want to hurt their feelings; but I don’t want to say yes either because M honestly has a bit of a problem with invalidating me being ace despite the fact that he calls himself demi. What should I do when they say/ask stuff like that? 

Talking with fellow a-specs and hearing their stories is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever done. Never have I felt so understood and not broken or weird. This is a very powerful thing and it’s why I keep pushing my #BoostAceVoices & BoostAroVoices education campaign. 

not to sound like a broken record but it is meaning so much to me that i can post gen fic of close intense friendships to ao3 and get a positive response. ditto for ship fic that explicitly is about characters who don't have sex. like. it's so nice.
