"den Umständen entsprechend" is one of my favourite german phrases of all time. Ich sag dir nicht was die Umstände sind, wenn du die nicht kennst ist das dein Problem. ultimate boss of nuance. "it is what it is" but 10 times more german. Ich geh mich jetzt den Umständen ersprechend aus dem Fenster werfen

Explore Dordogne within amazing watercolor environments. As past meets present, confront grown-up Mimi's choices with fond childhood memories to uncover family secrets.
as Mimi's grandma said:
"Places, Objects, People have many different lives. Life is a long and precious story, so you have to write your own. Take a deep breath before every challenge and after every success. Tell everyone about life. About the highs. About the lows. Share it without holding back."
— Dordogne - Focus Entertainment (focus-entmt.com)
I just played Dordogne on my Switch on a hot sunny afternoon in one sitting. It's a beautiful, heartfelt yet still slow and gentle game, with breathtaking artwork. Made me miss my grandma like crazy. I highly recommend! It has its sad moments, but at its core it's sooo cosy and nostalgic.
The only regret I have is that I didn't play it in French!
Saw you're in Europe. From someone who has Hot Summers™ in America: Ice packs will save your life and remember all of you across the pond are important take care of yourselves!!! Love, Official Wei Wuxian
Ice packs, fans, wet towels...I've got'em all! Just no AC. Some buildings do have it, but for older houses like ours it's really hard to get a permit (ecological concerns + protected heritage buildings), near impossible to retrofit (walls thick as heck and windows with the wrong shape for window units). Plus what many people from the US don't know is that electricity is WAY more expensive over here than in the US, so we'd have to sell some kidneys to keep it running.
Right now I have a fan that I can clip onto a shelf that's right above my bed, and it's keeping me cool all night long.
Whatever happens weather-wise in your corner of the workd, I eish you only the best! Thank you, Wei Wuxian!

OP: How to create floating Chinese shufa/Calligraphy (cr爱写字的豆豆)
How long have you been on Tumblr?
Over 16 years (before 2010) (toddlers in the dawn of the ant colony)
16 to 14 years (2010-2012) (livejournal and Myspace refugees)
13 to 11 years (2013-2015) (you used to follow thebootydiaries)
10 to 8 years (2016-2018) (era of Russian bot conspiracy)
7 to 3.5 years (2019-2022) (post sex ban to Goncharov)
3.5 years or less (2023–2026) (Twitter refugee)
Rebagel for science pls.
Went to this place today.
It used to be a tattoo parkour but is now a café/tea parlour AND a flower/plant shop in one, and I *LOVE* it there. Look, I took a pen and doodled something! After two years of drawing *nothing*!
Their shop is furnished with vintage/secondhand furniture, and they have a large open terrace at the back. It's so lovely!

EUROPEANS!!!! HOW ARE WE DOING 🧌🧌
XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS (1995–2001) Season 6, Episode 3, 'Heart of Darkness'
SCIENTIFIC INTEREST - a Fitzloved Modern AU, M, multichapter
Fitz is a disgruntled live-in groundskeeper at the historical site of one of the Elderling statues of old, and he quite enjoys the monotony of the job - keeping the lawn mowed, yelling at tourists to pick up their trash, dealing with the occasional teenager trying to scale the damn dragon... It's all good, until someone decides to spray paint a bright pink dick onto an important historical monument the day before some weirdo Professor is set to arrive to evaluate it. The statue, not the dick. His problems only get more bizzare from there.
Or, Fitz doesn't quite understand what there is to evaluate about a big hunk of rock. But then there's a lot he doesn't understand just yet.
CHAPTER 2 of this thing is now live! My writing mojo is well and truly BACK 🙌🏻
SERIOUS: NEW BOT SCAM ALERT

report and block. i'd also appreciate it if you shared this post, bc that blog was JUST created and was already tagging a LOT of people, and i know not everyone has the scam-sensing instinct, even if this might seem obvious to some.
@staff @tumblr @support
I just got tagged by one of these! Yikes!
(I also get tagged by this sort of scam page pretty regularly on facebook.)

Rent-lowering gunshots:
QUEER IS NOT A SLUR
We reclaimed it way back in the 1980's. It is the accepted term used in academia, in colleges and universities ALL OVER THE PLACE.
I can't believe we have to have this discussion AGAIN. During PRIDE month.
Reminder from someone who was there, "queer is a slur" discourse just was not a thing in this century until about 2013, when TERFs here on Tumblr started astroturfing it and insisting that "gay" was the required inoffensive term.
They'd go through the tags and search, and just attack anyone who used the word queer -- reblogs, asks, they'd keep repeating what they wanted to sell until people forgot it wasn't the truth. One minute it was "oh we're not saying you can't use it for yourself but you're evil to use it for anyone else" and the next minute it was "how dare you use it for yourself".
That was a coordinated campaign for trans exclusion, a first big step in the extreme transphobia we're dealing with now; it caught bi/pan and aro/ace queers in the crossfire, and that sure wasn't a drawback for its proponents either. They wanted (and still want) only cis, allo, gold star gays and lesbians to be the acceptable not-straights.
Like OP says, "queer studies" has been the polite, respected, academic term for over forty years. The people who oppose it, oppose it because they want to gatekeep our identities. Fuck that noise.
The rule could have heavy impacts towards trans people across society.
Last week, the Trump administration quietly released a sweeping new federal rule that would use funding threats to force institutions across the country to reject transgender people. The 400-page proposed regulation would codify the administration's anti-trans executive orders into binding federal policy, imposing a blanket prohibition on federal funds going toward "gender ideology"
The proposed rule, formally titled "Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance," rewrites the government-wide framework governing all federal grants across every agency. Among its most consequential provisions, it requires that before a federal grant recipient can receive money, the award must pass a "pre-issuance review" conducted by a political appointee—not a career expert or peer reviewer—to ensure it is "consistent with applicable law, Federal agency priorities, and the national interest." The regulation explicitly instructs these appointees to screen for "denial by the recipient of the sex binary in humans or the notion that sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic." [...] An institution that acknowledges transgender people exist—through its policies, its training, its healthcare, its bathroom access, its HR procedures, its name-change processes—could be deemed to "deny the sex binary" or to “support the notion that sex is mutable” and have its federal funding blocked.
Importantly, the gender ideology prohibition has no age limitation—hospitals could be targeted not just for providing care to minors but for providing gender-affirming care to adults, because prescribing hormone therapy to a transgender patient of any age could be deemed promoting the belief that "sex is a chosen or mutable characteristic."
THIS IS OPEN TO COMMENT UNTIL JULY 13, 2026
This is all very bad and horrible, but I want to be clear that it’s worse and more sweeping than just eliminating trans research.
This torches everything. And I do mean everything.
A very abbreviated list of its ramifications include (but are not limited to):
ending funding for ALL DEI related initiatives
allowing the government to terminate grants at any point for any reason
preventing researchers from publishing, going to conferences, and being part of academic societies
requiring that topics must support the president’s agenda.
What this means, and if anything I’m under selling it, is the death of science and research in America. It allows the government to restrict any topic they please at a whims notice, putting officials who have no background in the topic in charge of deciding funding continuity. It controls what gets researched and if/how researchers are allowed to share their discoveries. There are no books to burn if the government never allows them to be written. This is fascism plain and simple.
Please, if you only ever write one public comment, this is the one to do.
Bringing back this guide to writing an effective public comment. This gives you the basics you need to know, what you need to include, a basic outline you can follow, etc.
Public comments are not a vote, it is a chance for you to say "here is an issue with this law I think you need to address" and provide justification for legal challenges if it goes forward:
"Comments raise the bar that agencies have to meet when making a rule; “if an agency fails to adequately respond to significant, relevant comments in a final rule, members of the public may seek to challenge the rule in court on that basis and claim it could be struck down.ˮ"
But also, if possible, don't stop at writing a comment. Don't stop at calling your representatives. You should ideally be talking to people in your community about this and organizing resistance on-the-ground; there is a good chance people are already doing that even if you aren't hearing about it.
Also, please keep in mind, this is 100%, without a doubt, wholly unconsitituonal. They will try to enforce it regardless, but that does not make it legal. Do not treat this as law because it is not.
