Mark experienced none of that when he saw Him on a dreary nothing day. He'd been working the checkout at this towns excuse for a hardware store, his broad hands steady and wasted on scanning and bagging this and that for the people coming through his line.

The man had looked up from his work when the bell above the door sang out Mark's entrance. His eyes immediately narrowing as he raked an intoxicatingly physical glare over him from head to boot. Mark had bit back the urge to wave and go right up to begin talking to him, he did have actual shopping to do, and went about his business as normal.

Every time he would pass from one isle to the next the man was already looking at him. Tracking his every step through the store in a way he was with no one else.

Time kept refusing to freeze for them. All these moments of having each others entire attention, only for them to have to end so quickly as to not draw attention. Mark lingered, he picked his path carefully to see if he could escape that glare only for the man to keep track of his every step like it was nothing.

Eventually he did have to go get his purchase ringed up, though he did wait until there was no one else vying for the man's attention.

Up close he's stutteringly handsome. Honey brown eyes, the start of what will become heavy lines. Grey hair wrapping from his temples to the back of his skull and the scruffy start of a beard. Tall and strong looking, his well worn t-shirt had a few small holes across his chest that gaped and stretched with his movements while teasing that the tattoos on the side of the man's neck reached down his front as well.

A name tag was clipped onto onto his open button up. The ink dull and the paper yellow, the plastic sleeve dirty from too many years of use. 'Eli' it said. A little gift for Mark to tuck away with his other favorite words.

There was such an energy to Eli, a tension in how he held himself, a specific way he kept Mark pinned as each item was scanned. It was like looking a zoo animal in the eyes while standing in its enclosure. He could see both the boredom and how eager Eli for Mark to give him an excuse to take it out on him.

Eli didn't say a word to Mark until his total was rang up- and oh that voice could melt the snow caps. Mark paid, not hearing a damn word that was said, smiled and thanked him politely, then left.

This other killer takes the credit for your kill so you have absolutely no heat on you for it. and he's trying to get you to team up with him.

And he's a Big name. He's the guy who gets true crime documentaries and books about how great and terrible he is. and he's just Fascinated with you... and he's also the first person you've ever met in all your years who Gets it. He understands you better than you understand yourself. He calls you the lost half of his soul.

And he's this mid to late 20s buff athletic Hot piece of ass. He's clever and ruthless and Bold. He's the man you Wish you had been. but so much Sharper. and fuck does he make you feel alive again.

Ok. Now stop being that guy. Stop it. Think about this instead.

You are in your early 20s. You didn't finish highschool, you've got no college education, no real money. You're trapped in this shit ass Nowhere town with not a single real prospect. and you've killed a few times. two or three but that third has a witness. You get the photos on your bed and this super experienced Urban Legend™ is taking the credit for you. He's been active longer than you've been alive. Everyone thinks it's been a series of copycats but when he calls you you Know that isn't true.

He wants to help you. He sees the shackles you're in and he saw how beautiful you looked killing (because fuck does he love calling you Beautiful in that voice) and thinks you'd make for a good project.

He's so much more experienced in every single sense of the word and you feel like you're constantly trying to keep up with him but he never leaves you behind. He always pushes you just enough to see you struggle and prevail, never enough to actually let you fall. And Yeah you've got issues with your father but this guy's giving you Daddy™ issues you'd never imagined possible before. He sees so much potential in you, no one else ever has, and he doesn't want to change you or force you into any particular shape, he just wants to watch what you become. He's Giving you a life and stopping you becoming the kind of old man who looks at a 27yo serial killer and regrets that he wasn't like him.

Ok I already did a "help me pick their ages poll" but I finally found time to like. Draw them together really quickly + I cut the possibilities of any combination where they were about the same age. bc idk that option just wasn't as interesting to me.
