There are lots of reasons why fandom is "quieter" now than it used to be. Some theories are more compelling to me than others, and they all have a different scale of impact. We'll never know for sure, of course, but I like to think about it. Thus, this poll.

fandom olds didn't teach the newcomers how to fandom

covid/surge in fandom due to quarantine and lockdowns

tumblr porn ban and other reasons people left the site

capitalism turning fandom into a passive "view and move on" commodity

When I see new people getting into Ghost, they always ask about the lore but babes, I'm going to have to tell you something. 5% of the lore you see is canon, 10% is shit Special/Tobias said in interviews - most likely without thinking and the other 85% is from the fandom - whether from fanfictions, theories, art etc. Ghost is basically a sandbox, we're just given very limited information and allowed to run wild with the characters so have fun with it and try not to worry about what is and isn't canon too much.

#I love that you can be like one of the papas pissed on his least favorite ghoul before every ritual #and it’s totally canon #because Tobias was just saying stupid shit in interviews #I just really enjoy this vast and silly sandbox we play in #the band ghost
