If I received a Euro every time someone asked this in the Tumblr fanfic communities, I'd be filthy rich.
What is the ideal chapter/story length?
I'm new to writing, how do I start?
How do I overcome writer's block?
How do I make my stories more popular/increase engagement?
I'm so tired of people not being able to do basic research anymore. I'm tired of people not paying attention. I'm tired of people not just looking around for a few days and seeing if their questions may have already been answered/discussed in the past. And most of all, I'm tired of people treating fanfic like social media content.
I'm sure it's just a sign of the times and a sign of me being an old fart who is stuck in her old ways.
But honestly...? Fandom was a lot more wholesome when the internet wasn't 90% monetisation and things weren't spread across a million different platforms. And for the sake of fandom experience, I wish we could turn back time to that.

Looking for a new fandom feels as if I am holding various bits of new canon in front of my imagination like dangling a fish on a string in front of a listless cat.
Occasionally something gets a brief pat of the paw but then the interest is lost. Need something sufficiently enticing that I will be compelled to pounce on canon and gnaw it to pieces (which is how fic happens).
@bluevoidbubbles replied to your post “FW ask post august direct”:
If Solel is playable, he would have a lot more grace given to him than Rhea (especially if he's the "ruler with flaws/mistakes because they're only human" trope). If that's combined with supports and potential romance, which granted Rhea was also given, then he could be a fan favourite. Though in a bizarre way, I feel like he would retroactively be used for more "Rhea Bad" as a "here is the ruler who has the people in mind vs the exact opposite." Cause I know for a fact that the Fodlan vs Dagda Nabatean governance will be a topic of fandom discussion. Never mind the fact that Fodlan is basically human-ruled with the exception of a mountain range for most of its known history...
Rhea has meaningful supports that aren't only avatar centered?
Where lol
All jokes aside, I'm afraid we won't be able to escape the Rhea BaD rhetoric as long as any game is set in the Fodlan verse : even if Solel does the exact same things, aka governance but with a hands off approach and only governs his city - not in mountains but on a lake - he will escape the same nonsense because :
1/No Earl Grey, no red herring and no Fraudulent lead (and no player I guess?) to prop up by blaming the nabs, so Solel and the Dagdan nabs, I suppose, won't be put under the bus because some moron believes clouds are askhually solid and blame the nabs for twisting said clouds
2/As you said, Fodlan is human-ruled and humans can do no wrong in Fodlan, it's always Slithers slithering around, or apparently, Rhea forcing people to marry, or being the reason why your toast always falls on the jam side, or why people want to have superpowers.
The fandom, in part, still bought the nonsense about "Fodlan is isolationist" and "Rhea promotes isolationism" when Fraud himself realises it's wrong (before saying the inverse) - so Dagsion welcoming people from various nations, even foreigners (Dietrich and Fabio) will be seen as very progressive and open-minded compared to Garreg Mach Monastery where, uh, I guess... foreigners weren't... allowed???
Also, Dagda seems to have a pantheon of gods and temples that are called temples, so all the projected takes about the "Medieval Catholic Church" glanned in Hollywood media, Kalla isn't leading a church, she's leading the cult worshipping her in her temple!
It's very, very different!
Tl;Dr : I doubt Solel'n'pals will be blamed as much as the CoS is to prop up nonsensical shit from characters that are supposed to be looked favorably by the player, and they don't have the "Catholic Church" aesthetic.
So even if they were a perfect clone of Rhea and the Fodlan nabs, the Dagdan nabs won't receive as much vitriol as their Fodlan cousins did.
I've said this before, but I dislike the moral high ground people take about the supposed redemption of FICTIONAL characters.
Yes, it is a nice fantasy that an abuser, no matter what he's done, can redeem himself and be a better person. And I appreciate when fans of this idea emphasize that at no point should the victim have to be forced to accept this.
But you know what's also a nice fantasy?
The idea that someone, no matter how white, rich, male and "misunderstood" might actually get some kind of punishment for his crimes. And yeah, sometimes, that fantasy includes seeing that asshole die.
None of this is a reflection of real world politics. Someone can be a prison abolitionist in real life and still enjoy seeing a fictional abusive neo-nazi meet his end.
In the real world, there are so many reasons why an abusive person might escape justice. We all know plenty of billionaires, politicians, or even just rich white young adults who have gotten away with abuse, rape or murder.
Would it be great if they defied all the odds, woke up tomorrow and decided to take on the quest of being a good person? Sure!
But that's about as likely as seeing them go to prison for their crimes.
So if you want to give me a fictional story where a fictional abuser tries very hard to become a better person and atone for his crimes. Great. But if you want to give me a fictional story where a fictional abuser is punished for what he's done, up to and including death, well, I'm okay with that too.
Escapist fiction is escapist fiction, and no one has the moral high ground when it comes to people who don't actually exist.
Whatever FW brings, I just hope we won't get shit edits and headcanons parroted as canon as is the case for the previous opuses like
What the actual fuck
Where is it even said Relics and Crusts are sought after because of Rhea's cover up story? I mean, in the canon, aka, FE16 ?
Faerghus values the power they bring - with the Gautier example - that's all. That's the only occurence in FE16 where the world tries to explain why people are seeking super-powers.
But I guess, some people'd rather write fanfiction, or pretend it's canon and edit fansources accordingly - it has been seven years, and I suppose, depending on what FW will bring to the table, it will still be going and on and on...

So I was told repeatedly that TVL is the only book Rolin wanted to adapt, and that he begrudgingly helmed two beautiful seasons of television just to get to it. And now I’m seeing that, actually, TVL was just made to erase those previous two seasons so he could get to the season he ACTUALLY wants to make, which is Season 4. Of which he will not be the showrunner.
Once again, I would love more textual analysis and fewer conspiracy theories in this fandom.
I am absolutely crushed that there are not more knightingale fics on ao3 tagged with “marriage proposal”
hopefully will be doing my part to contribute to a solution soon!
More importantly though if you aren’t reading Eighth Notch by @the-blaze-empress you really should be cause I cannot stop thinking about it, it brings me so much joy.
