This is the type of cat that would try to sell me magical potions in the woods.
I’d buy them all.
“a writer’s character’s viewpoints don’t reflect the writer’s viewpoints!!!” actually, they do.
that doesnt mean having a, for instance, homophobic character means the author is homophobic. but how is the homophobia treated? is it criticized? is it excused, idealized? is it framed so that the homophobia is clearly wrong? does the inclusion of homophobia in the narrative serve a point?
writers, especially professional published writers, know that their writing has an impact, and the morals they put forward in their work reflect deeply on themselves. they know how they frame and present their work can completely change the result and effect it has.
so maybe the character’s viewpoints don’t say much about the writer, but how the writer presents this character and its viewpoints says a hell of a fuckin lot about the writer.
It’s also of note that a writer can take this into account and frame the narrative around this. The narration and viewpoint of a story can reflect the viewpoint of the character in such a way that it itself begins to develop into something else as the character does as well. Say you want a character to have a revelation over the course of a story that their homophobic actions are wrong. When first presented, it might be prudent to have the narrative reflect this as not an issue, as that’s how the character sees it, then shift slowly as the story goes along, until you reach a point where the character and narrative both have the “ah ha” moment. This isn’t for every story, of course, but it IS a tool to take into consideration if you’re a writer.
i realize these are origami but i’d probably eat the fuck out of them anyhow
Making these is actually really relaxing
You know how?
How do you make these?
heres two different articles on how to make them
Also, if you suck at cutting long straight strips of paper, and don’t have access to a paper cutter, you can often get pre-cut paper star strips for reasonably cheap. (or if you want to pay more, you can get stuff like glow-in-the dark paper)
I honestly thought this was real cereal until i got to the text bits XD

I’m 90% sure this is an ancient elven artifact
it always really bothered me when wait staff ignored me + my friends just because we were young bc we are all really respectful people but the assumption was that we wouldn’t tip
anyway so fast fowards to when i became a waitress and one day this group of scrubbyass kids came in and i had 8 other tables with other people to look to but i overheard that one kid wanted a milkshake but he couldn’t afford it and the other kids offered to pay but he was like “nonono it’s fine” and i looked over and he just looked real run down and sad and stuff —- later it just so happened that our kitchen had a mixup so we had an extra shake and since it would just be dumped otherwise, i snuck it out to their table and gave it to him for free
and his friends were so fucking impressed by this they pooled every fucking cent they had i got a $50 tip and later his friend’s mom came in and said “i heard what you did for that boy” and gave me another 20 and offered me a better job working with her
and meanwhile at my other table a rich white guy i was serving complained bc he didn’t want to pay the 15% tip on a $8.90 bill and when his wife said “she’s been a good waitress, though,” he said, “but just plain good isn’t worth 15%”
rich people ain’t nothing
To some people you’re an NPC
To other people, you’re the special, unlockable character that they worked and worked to finally get- and when they do they’re so happy because they got the game just so they could find you.
me: *has no money* when i get money i’ll definitely buy that
me: *gets money* okay but do i really want that??

Citizen is simpler and more beautiful~ but just in case anyone needs this.
DUDE BUT THIS IS WHAT I’VE BEEN TRYING TO TELL PEOPLE
in medieval times you ONLY addressed a king/queen with “Your Majesty”, NEVER “Your Highness”. To address a king/queen with “Your Highness” was considered an insult.
