A tragic scene:
My turtle notices the blueberry I put out for him but in his excitement he drops it into his pond. He considers a recovery mission on his own, then turns to me for assistance instead.
Fear not- the berry was retrieved and the turtle was able to enjoy it as intended
tbh i think the funniest phenomena thatβs been happening in the last couple years is βyoutuber, having gone too deep into the research hole, has been made an investigative journalist against their willβ
Shout out to the guy who wanted to do some fun & silly little reviews but uncovered an illegal gambling operation
(Review 2)
this guy started out poking fun at australian politicians and ended up investigating the firebombing of his own home, during which he uncovered connections between the same politician he was making fun of + major organized crime
βSo I did what any normal person would do, okay? I bought a hat and some makeup and disguised myself so that I could go undercover and do some digging on what I thought could be an illegal gambling operation that was fronting as a kebab restaurant.β
Amazing.
I for one, welcome this new niche genre of detective fiction.
I watched the second video and I feel itβs vitally important for people to know that the question βwho firebombed my house?β isnβt a rhetorical one or a hyperbolic one, he genuinely doesnβt know because his list of proven enemies includes, in no particular order:
The cops
The terrorist surveillance branch of said cops
The government
No, seriously, multiple current and former government officials have openly stated beef with him
The most violent crime family in Australia
The gambling lobby
Money launderers
Other journalists
Drug dealers
The seventh richest man in Australia
Property Developers
And a partridge in a pear tree
He legitimately doesnβt know which one of his enemies might have done it (even though he has strong suspicions) because theyβve collectively already attempted to shut him up with legal attacks that couldβve resulted in actual jail time and many, many more shady tactics, including smear campaigns, outright lying to authorities (who also hate him) and lying under oath (the courts probably also hate him but are more quiet about it).
He legitimately went into hiding for a few months to assess the threat level after being firebombed and escaping with his life by sheer luck.
And you know what? He went right back to being an annoying little pissant to the most powerful people in his country and has become more prolific than ever after that video up there. I personally subscribed to his patreon because frankly? Anyone with that many enemies who legitimately want him silenced or dead deserves a few bucks a month.
And lets not talk about Hbomberguy, who wanted to know who made the original oof from roblox, and accidentally discovered that
Tommy Tallarico is a Fucking Liar lmao
A new edition to this went in willingly and it became way bigger than ever expected!
I started watching the LEGO video by Reckless Ben because I have a few rooms to paint and βsmall town LEGO thiefβ sounded like the perfect low-stakes, long-form background noise to keep me going. 4 hours later and what the fuck what the FUCKKK
My spouse and I have been watching the updates that are actively being released and calling each other like
Free Ornamentation IV. This work is dedicated to the public domain π
I turned them into individual transparent pngs if anyone wants those premade!
(Op lmk if you want me to take this down, I'd totally understandβon the other hand, I'd love to do it for the other public domain pieces you've done if that's ok!)
Happy Pride, Readers!
It's that time of year again! Here are 5 of the best queer books I've read since the last time we celebrated Pride Month together.
These aren't necessarily new books (though some are!), just books that I read in the last 12 months and thought were swell. Maybe you'll like them, too!
The Summer War by Naomi Novik @naominovik (m/m rep)
If you like classic fairy tales that feature clever protagonists outwitting the fae, you'll like this novella. It's about a young girl who discovers she's inherited some magical ability when she accidentally curses her brother to never find love.
Cinder House by Freya Marske @fahye (polyamorous, bi rep)
Content warning for abusive family My new favorite Cinderella retelling. Being a novella, the story is told quite efficiently, trusting the reader to follow along without spelling out every single thing, and still fitting in some excellent world-building. It's a familiar story with vibrant characters you'll miss when it's done.
A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers (nonbinary rep)
A lovely, gentle sci-fi solarpunk novella that feels like a hug, perfect for when you need to slow down. The main character, Dex, leaves the city in search of meaning and stumbles across a sentient robot of the type that has not been seen since the days of 'oil roads' and factories. The world building is deft with just the right amount of detail. Make sure you have the sequel, A Prayer for the Crown Shy, on hand - you'll want more.
The Cemeteries of Amalo by Katherine Addison (m/m rep)
This is a sequel series to The Goblin Emperor; if you enjoyed that book you'll find more to love here. This trilogy (start with The Witness for the Dead if you've already read The Goblin Emperor) follows Thara Celehar as he gets into a truly improbably amount of trouble for such an unassuming prelate. Murders, opera, airships, ghosts, and a distinct preoccupation with wearing the correct coat for the occasion; what more could you want?
Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die by Greer Stothers @pangur-and-grim (m/m rep, general pervasive queerness)
Content warning for amputation and some gore This is a tricky one to categorize, but it's queer, it's fun (content warning notwithstanding), it's fresh, and if you've ever read anything else like it drop the title because I want to know about it.
Sir Cameron is prophesied to die and end the reign of terror of the evil mage. Naturally, Sir Cameron would rather that first part not happen and so, reasoning that there is at least one other person in agreement with that sentiment, throws himself upon the dubious mercy of said mage. Hijinks ensue.

And that's this year's list! Of course, there are MANY more queer books worth reading. Here's our LGBTQ Reads tag if you need your TBR to be even longer. Enjoy!

theΒ βsexy lamp testβ but for disabled folks: if you can replace your disabled character with a beloved pet dog that needs an expensive surgery to survive then you have to throw out your manuscriptΒ
βThe Family Dogβ by Deaf artist Susan Dupor, 1991
Scientists invented a fake disease. AI told people it was real: Nature.com
I'm a bit frightened for the time when someone less ethical than the person that did this decides to repeat the experiment but leave out the part where they come in later and announce that it was fake and people wind up diagnosed with the fake condition and all kinds of wacky hi jinks ensues.

Iβm kinda surprised that nalbinding isnβt as popular as crochet and knitting tbh because it has an even lower barrier of entry tools wise and unlike crochet and knitting it makes fabric that you can cut.
I guess itβs because itβs slower or something.
Nalbinding aka needle binding is when you use yarn and a big sewing needle to make fabric btw
It also has a lot of different kinds of stitches you can do that make different densities of fabric.
Some people even make rugs.
I feel like part of it might be casual people are generally aware of the existence of crochet and knitting, even if they donβt know very much about either, but have never heard of nalbinding
Yeah I hadnβt heard of it until recently and I ordered a big bone needle for myself to try it out and that should be arriving soon.
I was surprised that Iβd never heard of it though. Itβs older than knitting and crocheting and even though itβs been done all over the world itβs super relevant to Nordic culture and my grandmother and I are both into keeping in touch with our roots a bit so Iβm surprised Iβve never heard of it.
It seems like the sort of thing that would be popular even if not as popular as crocheting and knitting, considering the low barrier of entry.
You also donβt need a bunch of different sized needles for nalbinding or whatever. The size of the stitch is controlled either completely freehand or by pulling it against one of your fingers. Most people who have a lot of nalbinding needles seem to either have tried out wood, bone, and metal ones to see which kind they liked or they enjoy carving wood or bone and like making their own needles as an extra hobby.
Itβs also a lot easier to freehand and adjust as you go than crochet or knitting and you mostly go by inches instead of rows and number of stitches so a large number of accessories like stitch markers or whatever isnβt really necessary.
Maybe the lack of accessories also makes it unpopular idk. People do like collecting things in their nests.
I've been wanting to do so, I cannot find anyone who can teach me, and any books I can find on it are Ass in the Visual Learning department. Otherwise I'd be making the hell outta some nalbinded fabric
I found this channel by a nice man who makes up close tutorials
I create videos on YouTube to learn people how to needlebind using two fingers and your thumb. Needlebinding helps people to relax, relieve
I thought this would be kind of a niche post to make but I was quickly reminded that Iβm on tumblr, the website full of gay people with one billion hobbies.
you're laughing. charles dickens had a son named plorn and you're laughing
HE HAD A SON NAMED
WHAT
NICK I LOOKED IT UP AND SAW NOTHING OF THE SORT IS THIS A PRANK
technically his name was edward but everyone called him plorn
Edward βPlornβ Dickens. my god.
I have something worse
imagine getting stuck with the nickname Plorn
imagine getting sent to live in the Australian outback when you were sixteen
WHY WERE THEY SO CRUEL TO MY BOY PLORN
I have an answer to that one too
The face of a man whose father nicknamed him Plorn.
Born without a groove π
With each addition to this, I find myself nodding and murmuring, "Mm hm. The Plorn Dickens."

Hey, did you know archive.org has a bunch of free 90s shows you can stream?
The problem is finding them, since no one's organized them all in one place with covers and episode info. I'm trying to fix that with my new website.
It's in BETA right now, and all the content was just added today, so I've barely scratched the surface of what's out there.
Let me know what you think and what kind of shows/movies you want to see!
http://90sKid.com
We now have a Watch Party with chat feature now live HERE
You can create a live tv channel with our existing library. The channel is time syned so whoever is watching with you will share the moment!
It also works with youtube links and archive.org links.
Registered members get 24/7 channels that run even when you're offline. Guests can make temporary Watch parties that expire after 12 hours.
Leave shows/movies/content you want to see in the comments and post tags!
Are YOU gonna let THE GOVERNMENT tell YOU what YOUR GENDER is? That doesn't sound like Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness to me! PROTECT your individual FREEDOMS and call your senator: we want the GOVERNMENT to stay OUT OF OUR PANTS! GENDER FREEDOM NOW!
Two men in your neighborhood are married... to EACH OTHER? Congratulate them for exercising their AMERICAN RIGHT to follow the footsteps of our FOUNDING FATHERS! They've got a fully AMERICAN spirit of FREEDOM and REBELLION! GOD BLESS THE USA.
Your coworker has a different RELIGION from yours? Well, that's just INTERESTING and you should talk about it on your UNION-APPROVED LUNCH BREAK. The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA was FOUNDED on Freedom of Religion and ANYONE should be allowed to seek the AMERICAN DREAM!
You think someone might be in this GREAT country ILLEGALLY? NO YOU DON'T! No one is in this country illegally! The minute anyone steps on our SOVEREIGN SOIL they're your FELLOW AMERICAN and where they come from is NO ONES BUSINESS.
it's funny yeah, but guys this is actually how you reach the people who prefer these terms to frame all things Good and Correct.
@theshitpostcalligrapher please. Im beggin
oh i've done this one actually
