The Fiat 130 was introduced in 1969 as the company’s flagship saloon, powered by a 60º V6 designed by Ferrari engineer Aurelio Lampredi. In 1971, Gianni Agnelli, Fiat’s CEO, commissioned Familiare versions for himself, his brother, and a close friend. Three wagons were built by coachbuilder Officina Introzzi, but only one was given the "Villa d'Este" woody treatment, for Gianni Agnelli’s own family.

For the 1967 Paris Motor Show, Pininfarina presented the Fiat Dino Berlinetta Aerodinamica (AKA Dino Parigi), designed by Paulo Martin. The shooting-brake style concept was built on a longer wheelbase than the production Dino Spider for improved aerodynamics. It was presented again at Geneva (the Dino Ginerva) in 1968 with a fastback replacing the square back styling.
