For example: 🦐 Mantis Shrimp (who punch so fast they create pressure voids in the water that collapse to produce shockwaves, heat, and even a flash of light!) 🦐 Pistol Shrimp (Instead of a punch, pistol shrimp create their shockwaves using the snap of their claws!) 🦐 Hermit Crabs (who aren't "true" crabs, but Shrimp City is an inclusive town) 🦐Yeti Crabs (who live in Shrimp City's sister city, Hydrothermal Ventopolis, where they grow bacteria on their hairy arms that they lick off for a snack!) 🦐 Insects (who are not shrimps per se, but did you know recent research suggests that insects group with the crustaceans?? What kind of science education are you funding by buying a shirt, you ask? Well, lots of stuff, but here's a recent example:
Here's a mural all about local biodiversity that we painted in collaboration with a Philly public elementary school with local artist NDA!
We got the kids from the school to help us paint it and everything! These projects are educational and cute as hell.
So hey. Get a shirt <3
UPDATE: as of Sunday morning, we've sold 271 shirts. To fully fund our fall mural series we need to sell 1100. Each mural costs about 330 shirts (this is a goofy way to fund good projects, but hey, that's life in the 2026 hellscape babbyyy).
This means we are 60 shirts away from our first Philly Bug mural being funded. So whaddya waiting for?? Get a shrimp shirt!
and if you are like me and white is not your color.... can I interest you in a plant native plants
or a biology is bigger than binaries?

but ykw at least i'm not on mount everest. at least i'm not paying tens of thousands of dollars to slowly suffocate in a 300-person line at the gates of hell. never in my life will i have to be steered in a hypoxic stupor through the maze of poop and corpses atop mount everest. on this earth a lot of horrible things can happen to you without your permission but there are a few that you have to opt into. you can just say no thanks! and be guaranteed never to have to be on mount everest. much to be grateful for actually

it’s actually quite easy to take over a small local government group if you really want to, bc if you volunteer consistently people will just put you in charge of whatever. I’m now one of like three people at a nature preserve making official decisions about trails, events, putting in a prairie, and designing a series of illustrations for a storybook trail etc., and it’s just because last summer I started coming over once a week to help the naturalist out for a couple hours. Mine now. you too can steal an organization and shape it to your will 🫵
Two of my friends and I have taken over the local guild that runs a large portion of charity events in our town. We’re changing bylaws and setting new policies and coordinating with other groups. All we did was volunteer, and they practically strongarmed us into accepting the president, vice president (me) and treasurer positions. VOLUNTEER, KIDS. YOU TOO CAN LET THE SMALLEST AMOUNT OF POWER GO TO YOUR HEADS.

Playing with some designs for stickers
went to a new optometrist today wearing my squid facts ‘save our freaks’ shirt from @sarahmackattack that has a strawberry squid on it. and i wasn’t even thinking about it but the optometrist walked in and he was like ‘oh what does your shirt say’ so i showed him and he was like ‘oh that’s neat!’ and then i thought he might like to know about strawberry squid eyes since they have weird eyes and he is an optometrist and all. so i was like ‘yeah it’s actually a real kind of squid called a strawberry squid, their eyes are really cool because they have one big yellow-green one and one small blue one’ and he kind of gasped and went ‘oh my god that’s so interesting i wonder why they have that. do you know what their retina composition is like?’ and i watched as he minimized my chart on the computer and started looking up images of strawberry squid and then he googled ‘strawberry squid retina composition’ and he was like ‘sorry we’ll get to your eye exam in a moment i just really want to find out’ LMAO 10/10 optometrist experience will be returning
