For anyone who wants an easy copy-paste into their favourite recipe keeper:
Pumpkin Pudding Pie w/Orange Zest and Cardamom Whipped Cream
(makes ~3 pies)
Ingredients:
Pie:
2 ½ cups sugar
15oz can pumpkin puree
2 eggs
½ tsp baking soda
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
2½ cups milk
4 TBSP butter (melted)
1 orange
1 tsp powdered sugar
Whipped Cream:
1 cup heavy cream
2 TBSP powdered sugar
1 tsp cardamom
pinch nutmeg
-----------
Instructions:
Pie:
Preheat the oven to 325°F
Prepare the pie crust (that's another recipe's job- either find a scratch recipe or buy a pre-made dough or graham cracker crust)
Blend 2½ cups sugar, pumpkin puree, eggs, and baking soda in a large mixing bowl (if using a mixer, blend with a paddle attachment)
Add the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt; blend until well mixed
Add the milk and melted butter, whisk until well mixed (if using a mixer, blend with the whisk attachment)
Pour your batter into the crust, filling right up to the edge (the mix will be more liquid than solid, but it will rise/solidify in the oven)
Bake at 325°F for 55 minutes
Remove from the oven and let it cool
Top with sifted powdered sugar
Zest an orange over the top of the pie (microplane if possible but regular zester is fine; have found that the most aesthetically pleasing version is to peel the orange and then finely dice the peel but that's a hassle!)
Whipped cream:
Put your metal mixing bowl and whisk in the freezer for at least 15 minutes
Whisk powdered sugar, cardamom, and nutmeg together in bowl
Add heavy cream; whisk until stiff peaks start forming
Serve on a cooled pie :)
one of my favorite tropes in chinese literature is when a guy’s wife is clearly a ghost/demon/fox fairy and he just can’t see it. i’m reading a story where this guy keeps getting arrested because his wife will just magically steal steal shit out of sealed boxes and give it to him as a present, and whenever someone is like dude i think something’s up with his wife he asks her and she’s like i’m literally normal. so he turns around and says yeah guys she’s literally normal

why is this post completely broken in every way imaginable
Broken notes… deactivated account… removed image….
Finally, we have them all.
In addition: OP’s name is just… gone. No “[insert username]-deactivated[insert a bunch of numbers]” as is the standard for deactivated blogs.
Just the world “deactivated.” Look upon their post, ye mighty, and despair.
It’ll be almost impossible to find this post unless it wanders across your dash.
It wandered across mine. I shall help it travel forward.
this is not a place of honor
This post is literally what happens when you divide by zero.
You think “oh it would be useful to learn how to identify my thrifted yarn and clothing” and before you know it you’ve been recruited by fiber witches giving out their spells willy nilly, again

Knitting my first ever pair of gloves and making them is possibly even more satisfying than making socks - I'm in love.
These ones are for my sibling (we have the same length hands) but I'm 100% going to be making so many more!

TRAGEDY: Cast-on method I abhor really does create nicer edge than one I like.

Hanging (USA, 1950s) by Julia Fybel (Germany, 1890–1969). Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
Knitted hanging of eight knitted rectangles with crocheted edges, crocheted together. Outer edges crocheted to a linen backing; central motif of each rectangle: mermaid with fish. Four different poses, each repeated twice. Four rectangles in beige, olive-green, dark brown and cerise. Other four rectangles in light blue, light green and beige. Each rectangle: 12” x 23”.

You ever see a thing and know with bone deep certainty, and a little bit ferociously feral-ity(is that a word?) that you need to make the thing?
How FREAKING COOL and ON BRAND for me too???

A genius, stunning, so freaking cool. Insert Lady Gaga gif here.

Uk media reporting on the OSA:
Reality:
Ten years ago or so, I worked for a company that provided search engine services for things like university and library catalogs. They had customers all over the world. One day, my team got a ticket where we were instructed to block searches for certain content for Chinese customers (stuff like e.g. Tienanmen Square, etc.) because those libraries and schools could be charged with crimes if they allowed their users to search for that content. We joked about how Orwellian this was.
Today, that's now happening in the UK.

Making myself a little post to remember this spring by. My niece and I visited a local park to see the frogspawn then, once hatched, brought some tadpoles home and raised them into wee tiny froglets. Maybe 30 or so.
We set up a mini container pond for them.
We then spent the next 8 weeks watching them grow and learning about how to feed and care for them.
Sometimes her big sister joined us too, but it was mostly me and the niblet.
We just returned them to their pond this past weekend as they were getting big enough to sit out on the rocks in my garden container pond, and I was worried about cats, birds and roads. Better they be returned back to an appropriate habitat for their adult life stage.
It was the best spring ever.
