About/BYF (DO NOT REBLOG)
To be honest, I've never actually made one of these before. I've never felt the need to. Times have changed, though, so here we go.
I'm Ren and, as stated in my blog description, I'm 28. I'm married and a mom. I'm a writer of both fanfiction and original fiction, and my writing blog can be found here. (I will make a similar post on there as well.)

I have a "ship and let ship" mentality. I grew up in fandom, starting with Quizilla in 2007 and learning about m/m ships by finding Death Note fanfiction on FFN a year later. Which is to say, I remember the "don't like, don't read" days, and I still hold true to that mentality, with every piece of media I consume, not just fanfic/fanart. At the end of the day, I do not want to waste energy that I could be using to do things I enjoy (spending time with my husband, writing, drawing, etc.) policing people's media consumption. It's also extremely detrimental to my mental health, which I've fought to get to a stable place over the past several years. Two brick walls screaming at each other does not a good environment make.
There is no such thing as a pure, wholesome piece of media, and I do not want to constantly put a quarter in the Problematic Jar™ to justify my enjoyment. I've justified enough of my interests to last a lifetime. I'm tired of it.
I enjoy meta/theories/headcanons and I understand that my interpretations are not universal. My word is only "canon" in the stories I write.
Just because something reprehensible happens in a story does not necessarily mean that the author condones the action in real life. Even if a character thinks it's okay, does not mean that the author does. To have well-rounded characters, they have do Bad Things and/or have Bad Opinions sometimes.
