There’s a lot to talk about in this update, we’ve really been pushing towards the milestone of having all the magical Paranormal Traits completely finished. (Those being Fairy, Witch, Changeling, and Mage.)
As of this update, all the Mage Powers have been edited and overhauled with most of them getting a complete rewrite as well as some additional Eureka! Point abilities.
I’m very happy to say that we were able to keep Superhuman Speed available in the game without allowing it to be too powerful or conflict with the internal logic of “magic” in the rulebook. Those of you who wanted to make cheetah-based catgirls with the Catgirl Trait from Eureka: The Fanservice Files combined with the Mage Trait can go ahead now.
A few other random highlights include that the Invisibility Mage Power now has actual rules, and Telekinesis is more costly to use but even more powerful.
Outside the paranormal stuff, we also better clarified how Reactions work, tweaked the Disarm rules, and better clarified equipping weapons in combat.
Wealth rolls for buying food are also better clarified.

CHAPTER 2
Added a comma to better clarify the Bite-sized Trait.
Added Private Investigator License to the Item List under Miscellaneous.
Moved a piece of info that was in a sidebar to be in the body text because it was too important and too easily missable to be in a sidebar. This piece of information was that sometimes, when it makes sense, a character can afford an item even on a Failed Wealth roll, but this imposes a Financial Stress Composure roll with an exacerbating factor.
Bolded the part that mentions that Wealth rolls to buy food get a +2 Contextual bonus.
Changed the Wealth roll for getting food at home so that the Property Modifier of a home only applies if that home would not logically be stocked with food, such as a hotel.
Quick Draw can apply when attempting to make Reactions. Also better clarified Quick Draw in general.
Made Motor Scooters have higher Acceleration.
CHAPTER 4
Better clarified Reactions even more.
Added explicit rules for characters “holding their Turns” in combat. I thought we already had that but I guess it’s just one of those things that is so engrained that you take it for granted in any turn-based TTRPG.
Better mechanicized Disarms.
Better clarified weapon equipping in combat.
CHAPTER 6
Fixed typo in Pythoness Witch Tradition.
Rewrote the rules text for Healing Touch Mage Power.
Healing Touch Mage Power can now also help with stopping bleeding.
Healing Touch Mage Power now interacts with long-term care.
Reduced the default amount of extra HP healed by the Healing Touch Mage Power to +1. +2 HP is now available by spending a Eureka! Point.
Added 1 Eureka! Point effect to Healing Touch Mage Power that allows the target to ignore the penalties of Injuries and Incapacitation for the duration of the Scene.
Added 2 Eureka! Point power to Healing Touch that allows the healing of targets who are at 0 Penetrative HP under very limited circumstances.
Added 3 Eureka! Point power to Healing Touch that allows the reattachment of severed limbs under very limited circumstances.
Changed Incredible Strength Mage Power to not be “on” all the time by default it is now something that has to be “activated” on a per-Scene basis similar to the Glamour Mage Power.
Added a 1 Eureka! Point ability to the Incredible Strength Mage Power to increase the Athletics Bonus from +2 Base to +4 Base.
Fully codified the Invisibility Mage Power. It is no-longer up to like, interpretation the way it was. (This was a leftover fossil from EXTREMELY early in Eureka’s development.)
The codification of the Invisibility Mage Power also added several Eureka! Point abilities to it.
Started working on rewriting the Lightning Powers Mage Power. It’s a major rewrite.
Replaced the Invisibility Mage Power’s +10 Base Stealth Bonus with a +3 Base Stealth Bonus and instead better guidelines in general for how to handle invisibility. It also now has hard mechanical bonuses and penalties involved with fighting.
Finished the rewrite of Lightning Powers.
Fully rewrote the Manifest Weaponry power like completely.
Fixed typos in Pyrokinesis Mage Power.
Better codified Pyrokinesis Mage Power.
Added +1 to Pyrokinesis fires.
Pyrokinesis can now also produce a consistent candle flame on the fingertip.
Rewrote Remote Viewing Mage Power.
Rewrote Telekinesis Mage Power.
Rewrote Teleportation Mage Power.
Rewrote Superhuman Speed Mage Power. We actually managed to make it work instead of outright removing it! Woo!
Something I think is interesting about Eureka, if I do say so myself, is that of all the Mage Powers that can hurt someone,[1] Pyrokinesis is actually one of the least deadly by far. It just dawned on me the other day how unusual it is for the fire magic in any game to not be the one most geared to combat.
[1. Sidebar] For those unfamiliar with Eureka, Mage Powers are basically spells. A character with the Mage Trait in the rulebook is basically an X-Man, somebody born with an inexplicable power, and they can have one or more powers from the Mage Powers list. Characters with the Fairy Trait and Changeling Trait can also have a few Mage Powers, and the Witch Trait gets access to the entire list but can only activate on at a time. Certain powers work differently depending on which trait they are attached to.
Despite not being very useful in direct combat, Pyrokinesis is actually probably one of the top 3 best/most useful Mage Powers because of its stealth application. The ability to create a small fire remotely provides easy access to major distractions that keep being distractions even after the user is no-longer actively causing them.
