Every once in a while it’s brought to my attention again that there’s a whole other offshoot of the spn fandom tinhatting and fighting to this day over which actor from spn is the specialist little princess, screenshotting each others posts to make fun of each other over petty invented drama, making up conspiracies about each other, about the actors, about the actors wives and kids, etc. and I think to myself… spnblr really is like a little sociology terrarium that could in of itself be the subject of multiple dissertations.

This is part of my Ancient Civilizations class that I teach, which does a whole week about Australia and the Torres Strait Islands because I was sick of never seeing them represented in USAmerican history contexts. With the help of @micewithknives and @acearchaeologist I've learned so many incredible things about Australia's past and it's been incredibly rewarding to share them with students.

my most lukewarm take is that I don't think there should be any exemptions for vaccines, etc., beyond documented legit adverse medical shit that makes it physically impossible. like they should be free and required and nobody should be allowed to just choose to leave their child and any immunocompromised person they interact with vulnerable to potentially deadly but entirely preventable diseases and other medical conditions.

Look, I get that print media is dead and local newspapers have to make a living but if I am trying to read THE ONLY article about a obscure event in a small-ish town and the newspaper website puts it behind a paywall, I’m praying all the journalists that work for you release your home address.
