The soil testing equipment on Curiosity makes a buzzing noise and the pitch of the noise changes depending on what part of an experiment Curiosity is performing, this is the way Curiosity sings to itself.

So some of the finest minds currently alive decided to take incredibly expensive important scientific equipment and mess with it until they worked out how to move in just the right way to sing Happy Birthday, then someone made a cake on Curiosity’s birthday and took it into Mission control so that a room full of brilliant scientists and engineers could throw a birthday party for a non-autonomous robot 225 million kilometres away and listen to it sing the first ever song sung on Mars*, which was Happy Birthday.

This isn’t a sad story, this a happy story about the ridiculousness of humans and the way we love things. We built a little robot and called it Curiosity and flung it into the star to go and explore places we can’t get to because it’s name is in our nature and then just because we could, we taught it how to sing.

That’s not sad, that’s awesome.

Intersex 101 reminder: Intersex people can have any gender.

Most intersex people are the gender that was socially impacted on them (and would likely identify as cis). Whereas if it takes a transition to live their gender identity, they'll probably identify as trans.

Intersex people are more likely than perisex people to wind up trans, but it's still a minority of intersex people (like 10%)

Thinking that all intersex people might be "technically" trans reeks of bioessentialism and ignores how the majority of intersex people are assigned a binary gender at birth.

Ignorant people who have this logic is why I HATE the jokes about me being cis bc im nonbinary and intersex. It's just erasure disguised as a joke.

Trans people get the term assigned gender at birth from the history of intersex people being forcefully assigned. Bc it is an assignment.

Doctors poke and prod us and decide based on some wacky terf bioessentialist logic that often contradicts so they change their mind or argue with each other what bioessentialist bullshit applies to the person they are forcing into one of two boxes.

Intersex folks don't get assigned intersex at birth, they usually don't even get told they are intersex. Doctors wont even use the word intersex. Theyll either call us the h- slur or give us a diagnosis term that nobody uses so we cant find community. Intersex folks get assigned a binary gender just like everyone else. It's often hidden from them even when surgeries and hormones are forced on them multiple times during their childhood.

And then when we disagree with the doctors assessment, they will talk us or our families into "fixing" the problem with cosmetic changes and hormones to match the one the doctors decided on before. as if that would change how we feel inside. As if that would change our gender.

I did not get assigned nonbinary at birth. I did not get assigned intersex at birth. I was assigned a binary gender. I had to learn about being nonbinary and intersex all on my own as an adult and come to terms with them separately.

I knew I was nonbinary before I even knew I was intersex, despite being put on "corrective" hormones to fix a problem that wasn't a problem and would not fix the actual problem I was experiencing.

Luckily, I couldn't afford this hormone. Otherwise, I would have been taking it for half a decade before finding out about my intersex status.

But guess OP didn't have good intentions and couldn't be bothered to look anything up themselves.
