Ryland Grace

Ryland is the little spoon

Even if he's taller than you, he just loves curling up in a ball and being hugged

You are always roped into doing lesson planning with him

Laminating, and cutting, and writing galore

If you crochet (or do any yarn-work really) you absolutely made that Earth hacky-sack for him

If you have any work you do at home you have date nights where it's entirely him grading papers and you working

You guys go on monthly picnics

His students know little about you but they are obsessed with knowing more about the elusive 'Mr. Other Grace'

Every once in a while Ryland will read a bio paper that he hates so much he goes on an hour long rant that ends up being all you talk about that night

Strictly through dating him, you have high level knowledge of intricate biology topics, and comedically little about the basics

You guys go on bike rides together sometimes just to get some fresh air and to relax together

Ryland's last thoughts on Earth was wondering if anyone would tell you what had happened to him, if Eva didn't even know that he had a boyfriend

Every single time you ask Eva how her work was she looks at you with the exact same exasperated face

You both know she can't tell you the details no matter how many things she has to complain to you

She will however, complain about some of her coworkers passionately

For one of your anniversaries you bring her back to her home town and she breaks down in tears

After being swamped in work for so long she's able to just feel free, and remember her childhood, even if it wasn't perfect, living in eastern Germany shortly after the Berlin wall fell rarely is after all

During the preparation for Project Hail Mary you move in with her despite not knowing anything about what she was currently working on

As she wears herself thin she has the small comfort of being able to come home to you each night, and be taken care of after having to take care of everything herself all day

You are the only reason she makes it through all of the guilt of forcing Ryland onto the Hail Mary

The amount of time you spend holding her in bed silently after the launch is inumerable
