“No, I mean… That I was in playoffs at all. Not like the way everyone says it about the Bruins. But like, that was my first time, you know?” He pauses at the doorway of his bedroom, and when he turns around, he’s smiling. “Don’t tell Pasta, I think he’s still mad - but I had a great time. Every game, I was loving it. Even when we lost.” This is one of the things that pulled Sean to him in the first place, and the same thing that gets Kasty in trouble whenever the guys have poker nights. Kasty wears his heart on his sleeve. You can see every emotion on his face. When he’s angry, you hear it. When he’s bluffing, you know. And when his optimism is stupid, he doesn’t care. “He’s too stubborn, man,” Jeanner commented one time, but Sean disagreed. It’s just that Kasty doesn’t turn away from the world, not even when it leaves him behind.

and i like how it KINDA looks like these are the steps of a mourning ritual? another thing i enjoy is how the server hivemind conceptualized tanner jeannot the same way without mutual consultation.

tap tap hello is this thing on. hi babes i'm back and on my hrpf bullshit because nOTHING happened during the 2025-6 bruins season except what seems to be hella makeouts on the fourth line. and you know what i can work with that.

anyway i have put it in an ao3 SERIES(!) i'm titling That Time Of Year due to one of the songs i obsessively listened to while writing this. part 1 is your bog-standard hotel room hookup with slightly too many feelings, and part 2 is TEN THOUSAND WORDS LONG because then kuraly/kastelic just ate my brain for a few weeks and also i was working through my grief about the stupid stupid end of the hockey season. what are you talking about, there is NO HOCKEY existing on earth after the bruins washed out of playoffs, don't tell me lies.

ok so currently part 2 is 3.5k words long on ao3, but i do have all 10k written out and i just need to do edits before posting the rest. part 2 is called Mourning Rituals. for aforementioned reasons.

made myself a little playlist of the songs that made my brain go BRRR while writing. fink is the secret tryst song. MOVEMENT is the fucking song. the glass animals remix is what was playing at the club. harry styles is the emotional clarity song. ry x is the fucking song plus feelings. noah kahan is the acceptance of the grief and joys of the world.

the ry x remix i feel like is not as musically coherently on-point as the rest of it, and if i were really nitpicking i would excise it from the playlist. however it really stuck in my head towards the home stretch of writing. i think it's the "i want to see you again/i want to see you again/i want to see you again" ;__;

ok hold on, NEW order. ry x's "salt" is now the wake. (no one died, i've just been calling chapter 2 the wake in my head lol.) and "dark room dancing" STUDIO VERSION is now the end of the club scene. i just can't with those little squeaks on the remix. HOWEVER. i will stick the remix in at the end like afterthoughts on an album's deluxe~ version

also in the notre dame remix of "lencois (love me)" did they sample fatboy slim's "right here right now"?? it kinda sounds like it. anyway imma post chapter 2 soon
