some advice for people entering their 20s:
-dont go to the emergency room with dental problems. go to the dentist
-bagged greens are cheaper than pre-made salads
-taco bell is NOT worth the money anymore. 1/4 cup mayo, 1/4 cup sour cream, 3 tblspoons pickled jalapenos+2tblspoons of the jar liquid, 2 tsp paprika 1 tsp cumin 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder salt+pepper. all in your blender. creamy jalapeno sauce
-dont quit your job unless you have a bunch of job interviews lined up immediately after
-use resources. food bank, unemployment, housing assistance, financial aid, etc. yes there will be paperwork. but Do It
-dont stay awake longer than 20 hours. you Will start to become impulsive and cranky. resting for 20 minutes is better than trying to stay awake
-for every 2 hours you spend looking up close at screens, spend 20 minutes looking at something far away from you. stretch your wrists a lot
-dont do that yoga stretch where you roll your head around your shoulders. youre grinding down the joints in your neck
-be nice to your friends, bullying them as a joke gets old. if you need a ride somewhere at least offer them gas money
-brush your teeth at any time of the day but especially before you sleep. dont snack in bed if you can help it. make your bed the Clean Teeth Zone. keep floss picks by your bed
-dont tell your boss youre adhd/autism/depression/suicidal. dont trust your coworkers with that. you NEVER know how people will take it and its none of their business
-train your pets to go to the front door when they hear a fire alarm
-get regular oil changes
“You can’t fix him” I don’t wanna fix him! I wanna FUCK him! I’m a pervert not a psychologist!

Any advice for someone who's starting to write fanfic for a nonexistent fandom?
Don’t expect a huge response. Be happy for a hit and ecstatic for a kudos. Comments will be few and far between.
You’re going to have to do some heavy lifting if you want people to actually see your stuff. If it’s a new fandom things will get easier over time. If it’s an old one, you might have to hope for a wave of new cultural relevancy to get that. In the meantime, it’s all up to you and whoever else you can drag in with you.
Make posts. Write metas. Post screen grabs or quotes. Ask friends from other fandoms to take a look at this one and see if they want to join you in your small fandom world. Tag posts with anything you think is relevant to try to make contact with anyone else out there who is in the same place you’re in and also looking for other people.
Basically, shout into the void and hope someone shouts back.
Expect (and remember) that you will have less engagement, not because of quality, but because few are looking. The people who find your fic will be delighted just to have any new content, but writing for a small fandom has been a great exercise for me in practicing writing for myself. I write for it because I get that fic itch, because I just WANT to, not because of feedback.
Also, if possible, find (or recruit) at least one fandom friend to nerd out with and bounce things off. Good luck and have fun!
If you build it, they will come. Just write the stories that you want to write, don’t think about the audience (in terms of say, what you think they want to read), and enjoy, tbh. I remember writing for a then non existent pairing in a fandom (I think I wrote the first 11 stories) and it was great. I could craft fannon and ‘canon’ however I pleased. Honestly, anon, it’s good to be first with such things, enjoy!

This is our brand new science fiction adventure character, he's a scientist and an old man. He's in a TV show called Doctor Who. He's credited as Dr Who. All production documents call him Dr Who. All promotional material calls him Dr Who. The novel adaptations call him Dr Who. The movie adaptations call him Dr Who. The original tie-in fiction calls him Dr Who. And week one of his TV show he's going to meet a guy who's like "What's your name? What do we call you?" and our hero is going to be like "hohoho hehehe you dumb motherfucker. Never talk to me again." And then he's never ever going to give anyone his goddamn name.
I view reading fantasy/sci-fi stuff as "this work of fiction is being translated into english so that I can understand it, meaning some phrases should not be taken literally" lord of the rings style, and then I meet people who nitpick every word or phrase that "shouldn't exist in this story" and I'm like wow you guys are truly miserable and unimaginative. and also you tend to assume that english words all popped up in the 19th century and you never bother to check the etymology of the words you're claiming "shouldn't exist in this universe"
like sorry but in an apocalyptic alternate-universe earth, the phrase "train of thought" is plausible even in a world without locomotives, because the word "train" comes from the 14th century, and it meant "to drag"
that's why we call dress trains "trains". because they drag. the word wasn't invented for locomotives.
y'all say shit so definitively like idk man I think it depends. the english language is OLD AS FUCK. a lot of words you believe are modern just aren't
Rose Tyler was so iconic…no job. no father. hopping planets wearing approximately 10 lbs of waterproof drugstore mascara. a man at home who knew full well she was getting her back blown out by debate team captain space alien David Tennant on the regular and would still hang out with her every time she deigned to grace him with her presence. She killed the Devil? what a great character
yes mama…
david tennant's acting choices in utopia haunt me
glad to see i'm not the only one

We're a dyad in the force, Rey.
Two that are one.
no offense but you guys need to learn the difference between someone implying their experience is universal and a post simply just not being about you
