I find a lot of people when writing fanfics about Maria (and I’m guilty of this too, no hate) don’t realize that Maria has military training and how that impacts her. Military training makes people more disagreeable! So yes, while she is a kind person, she is stubborn as hell. I don’t think she’d often lash out in anger, but she starts arguments. She can come across as over harsh or critical, and I think people (myself included) write her a bit too understanding in the moment especially in BlackHill fics. She’s quite intelligent, so I think she’d understand in retrospect, but in the moment I think she’d be harsher than she’s often written.

Which would probably really help her to do her job well, but also make a lot of problems in relationships… (cough cough natasha cough)

Maria and Natasha get into a fight over something quite small but it ending with them being annoyed at each other and not talking again before Nat leaves for a mission where she's captured. Maria feels incredibly guilty and scared that the argument may be the last thing she ever said to Natasha and goes feral on an absolute rampage to find and rescue Natasha. From Nats POV shes certain Maria isnt going to come for her because Maria's mad at her from the argument. Once Natasha's rescued and in SHIELDs med bay and she wakes up, they basically cry in each others arms and both keep apologising for the argument and saying they love each other and can't loose each other.
