Who looks at a post that says “because of light pollution, we can’t see the stars as well as we used to. We could change this by changing how we light our streets and cities” and immediately jump to “so you’re gonna get rid of all lights everywhere? No thanks, lib, I like seeing things” like…how does your mind have to work for you to make *that* big of a leap?…

I would also note that directional street lights, opposed to globes, are actually better for vision at night. More light isn’t the key to safety - these provide light that it’s easier to see/navigate in. There’s a great book about light pollution called End of Night, by Paul Bogard, that addresses this well.

Yeah I’ve never been anywhere in my life where I could see the real actual night sky; only once rather faintly in the mountains, which amazed me but was only a fraction what it could have been. God it makes me sad. I really want to know that the anon in the OP feels like a stupid asshole actually.
