ok so. here's the SF-26 development plan for the rest of the season:
Zandvoort : significant changes expected to the floor which was initially introduced in Barcelona and consequently refined. This spec will be a new foundation for development, and aerodynamicists in Maranello will continue to try and improve downforce and expand the operating range.
Monza : in terms of aero, a low-drag aerodynamic setup will be introduced. the engine upgrade we've all been waiting for with an entirely new turbo, increased efficiency in the turnie and compressor will improve exhaust flow and pressure at high RPM's to reduce energy loss and sustain peak power for longer to give the car better straight-line speed. it must be said though, that this won't be a true conceptual shift. the ADUO2 will essentially form the baseline on which the SF-26 will finish the season, while the largest evolution of the PU will only be introduced next season.
a fourth package is already in the works and should arrive sometime this autumn. ferrari can afford to keep evolving the base spec that hasn't required costly revolutions. at maranello, the priority remains to gradually unlock the potential of an SF-26 built on already solid foundations, while the "true conceptual leap" for the power unit will take place in 2027.

WIN: When we last spoke, at any length, you were saying that you were really looking forward to the moment one day where you were gonna have a proper race with Sebastian -- real racing tactics, lines, everything else. That still hasn't really happened. HAM: Barcelona? WIN: I mean, Austin, there was a clear race between you two and it was great. HAM: What about Barcelona? WIN: Yeah, Barcelona, kind of -- HAM: What's kind of and kind of not? WIN: To me, it was more -- he had you off at the chicane and then it was a bit messy. What I was thinking more was you and Nico at Bahrain, that sort of long, sustained . . . HAM: But you're never gonna have that in this sport. WIN: No, probably not. HAM: If you look at all the races that have happened, the forty-whatever, fifty races, whatever amount I've done with the team, that's the only race that you've been on a different tyre strategy under a safety car which has enabled that. That's the only reason Nico could even get close, because he was on a better tyre in that race. Again, it's about that delta. Being that you had the difference in tyres, was about seven or eight tenths, whatever it is, so you made up for that loss in delta and created a great race which for me was still one of the best battles that I've had. But unfortunately, we've not had that position. Me and Sebastian start one-and-two, we're always gonna be on the same compounds most often going through the race because you go through a similar strategy. [...] Ultimately, you don't have enough life in your tyres to do back-and-forth like it did, so it's kind of like you only got time to do that one, 'cause you still got -- it's like you got a quota within the tyre life and you've got to hit this target with it, so you gotta somehow extend it whilst also get that battle done, so.
