Looking at rules again. So the rules are really easy for me to understand internally but really hard to explain on paper/ IRL. I will do my best to be succinct. Here you start with a line then 5 more parallel lines and off the back of the final drawn line then draw another 6 lines that all join on to that final drawn line. So it's continuous. ... You know that thing where you write or say a word so many times it begins to lose meaning or looks spelt wrong or just Becomes weird? Yes. That. The other thing where the same sounds are changed by their punctuation, aaaaaaaaaaa? aaaaaaaaaa!! aaaaaaaa,aaaaaaaaa,aaaaaaaa that's sort of what these experiments are about, decontextualising letters. Some more sketches of my beloved Castletown. It made me laugh that this one building in town had about 9 chimneys! I love the old stone walls here. A far cry from the red brick I've become so used to in Stoke on Trent. I think I used to think the industrial revolution was a dream something that happened in a really far away place from the Isle of Man, stoke was the centre of it. They couldn't be further apart in that sense. I've been slack at posting, by I am working. Still thinking about ruminations (!!!) But I have a question how lon do you dedicate to social media a week? I feel like it takes me as long to take photos im happy with and word them correctly as it does to make the work. I find it distracting yet it seems to be something I have to do to make people or galleries or potential commissioners aware of m, and my work. I feel a bit despondent about it all. If you have any advice it would be gladly rec'd. I've been super busy recently so thank you to everyone who has stuck around in my absence. I find it difficult to keep up with taking good pictures of the work I'm doing, it seems to take as much time as the making the work. If anyone has any advice- I'd greatly receive! Red black and white, reminds me of Emo. A certain colour combination I wore from the age of probably 14-17. Still a combination I wear today, although less so in my make up. I love his combination, it reminds me of days where I loved (and still do just not as feverently) Derek Hess, My Chemical Romance, Emily Strange, and desperately wished hot topic existed in the uk! I don't know when those things weren't the most important things in my life any more? I dont know when it changed. I always argued I was a punk, when challenged, but if we're being specific, I was an Emo. I did this and I really dislike it. I really hate it when you make something that feels like a waste of materials and time and energy. I'm sure some people are all the stuff I'm doing as a waste of time. A big part of my work is to make people ask that question, and when I feel I haven't wasted my time i'm happy. Experimenting with colour. I think we've come to understand blue as the colour of feeling sad. It's also the colour of the sea, and the sky which have depth we struggle to comprehend. I believe i'm correct in saying we've not reached the bottom of the sea, and there's still lots we don't know about it. That's how I feel about sadness, and sometimes the colour blue, such potential, should be positive, but could also be seen as opportunity for a million ways to feel like a failure. I think artists aren't suppose to believe in failure and have little Bob Ross's on our shoulder saying something like 'they're just happy little accidents' but it exists and sometimes it really difficult to get what's in your head to communicate or become real on your page or canvas or in 3D or something. I suppose it's a way to work through it - that indescribable things in our heads.
