Wanted to ask if youd seen the sheep detectives, and if so, your thoughts on it? I found it rather uncomfortable that the most prominent Black character is contrasted with the beloved white man who the whole story is about, as being like, his violent evil parallel/fellow shepherd (the other Black human character is much less prominent but he's a priest that previously mentioned white man has beef with so. Gestures). And then the only sheep with a Black voice actor is like, called a diva multiple times, and her personality is basically just, empty headed and into being the most beautiful sheep. But I haven't seen anyone else talk about it so maybe it's fine and I'm being overly worried ^^;
I must say, I have never heard of this before. But it sounds like you're onto something, at least from what you're describing.
I saw this movie with my mom for mother's day. There's a very heavy handed racism metaphor in the winter lambs. Two sheep born in winter are openly hated by the other sheep. Other lambs are told not to play with the winter lamb, he's not allowed in the same spaces, and the things the other sheep say are downright cruel. He's not even allowed to have a name.
The other sheep who was born in winter is judged harshly for isolating himself (this flock doesn't know when he was born) and eventually is killed to further the main sheep's character growth.
This isn't really resolved until late in the movie. The older winter sheep tells the main sheep he was born in winter, and she struggles with her reaction. She doesn't fully get over it before he is killed protecting her.
After that she's a little more open to the winter lamb. When the winter lamb proves himself useful and the main sheep (somewhat reluctantly) challenges her own beliefs, he's allowed into the fold and named after the shepherd. He's quite happy to be included.
I believe the movie is based on a children's book. For young audiences it makes a point, I suppose, but it's somewhat uncomfortable to watch. It's very much the b plot, and is very much told from a white perspective. There are no direct consequences of the racism. The winter lamb is completely fine with the way things shake out and has no misgivings whatsoever.
There's also a weird comparison between the winter lambs and a white woman who... had a silly name, I guess? I'm really not sure what point they were trying to make there. It didn't land for me.
In all honesty, I would be uncomfortable showing this movie to a child. On the surface it's cute and I like the idea of Agatha Christie/Knives Out for children, but it's very heavy handed in the racism metaphor while simultaneously not following through far enough. Too much emphasis on what racism looks like and not enough solid advice about how to combat that. The focus is also almost entirely on how the majority perpetrating the discrimination is affected.
So I thought y'all would like this too This great white comes to the jersey shore every year and this year they named her and have been tracking her hella so this is Mary Lee and she decided to show herself under this rainbow for pride month A true gay icon

Happy pride to the old woman at the gas station who saw me wearing my "totally unhinged liberal" shirt and very shyly told me that she and her best friend talked about how they'd get married if circumstances were different.

I have just found. the COOLEST website???
Lost Kitchen Scrolls
It has a huge variety of historical recipes from different regions, taken from manuscripts, transcribed and translated, and a whole section of notes about the context for the recipe. It's really fun and I AM going to try a couple of these recipes.
Look at how this lamb recipe is presented:
This is just such a fun way to learn more about historical foodways and discover traditional cuisine.
Look at all the filters you can use:
Maybe if I can forage some good blackberries this year, I can make a 300 year old recipe for blackberry wine!
Anyway. Check out Lost Kitchen Scrolls.
@sharonz-arty-corner03 I am about to be so insufferable

“wolf link is links fursona” shut up you have no knowledge of zelda lore. the wolf form has no bearing on who link is as a person, thats just the power of the chosen one. a true zelda fan would know that links canon fursona is a rabbit, as its said in a link to the past that in the dark world everyone takes the form of an animal that reflects their true nature, and what is link in the dark world? a pink rabbit. that is his official, canon fursona and I don;t want to hear anything otherwise

My 'redrawmajora' project from a few years ago, reimagining some of the characters from Majora's Mask with unique looks from their OoT counterparts. Still quite proud of these.

Desmond wanting a break finds a cat and makes a little bed out of his hoodie. He leaves a spare change of clothes nearby and a random glowing rock then dips. When the gang spots the “scene” they think Desmond has been turned into a cat by an Isu artifact he must have found. The cat hisses at Bill, purrs in Shaun's arms, and loafs on the animus so that is enough proof. Desmond comes back to hear Rebecca tell Bill Desmeow can't go into the animus and if he pushes Shaun will run.
Desmond is wheezing and that's how they get a cat for emotional support that turns into anti Juno like the cat in The Mummy. Rebecca enjoys holding Desmeow up when Juno pops up. The emails become unhinged and entertaining for her
So now that I got into Assassin's Creed 1, I realized Altaïr got demoted to the rank of child and apparently has to redo his training from the start.
*Hard cut to Altaïr on the floor of the mosque, crosslegged, enraged, as he's forced to sit through the five-year-olds philosophy class*
