do you have that "it's hard for a guy like that to find a job" vader george lucas quote?
yes it’s from the star wars archives prequel book!
Paul Duncan: So why is Vader now subservient to Darth Sidious afterwards, if he cannot save Padmé? George Lucas: What else is he going to do? It’s hard for somebody like that to get a job, you know.
Minnesota’s Giant Rainbow and Leather Pride Flags
June 28, 1998. Both flags measured approximately 50 feet wide and 75 feet long.
Hey, everyone!🖐️Minnesota leathergirl here! This year, the MN leather community retired our leather flag seen in the above photo. It was a beautiful thing, and we even had a photo shoot with the old flag, and turned it into various things (including stuffed animals, patches, and a piece that was sent to the Leather Archive)!
But good news! We replaced…with an even larger one!
The flag now measures over 100ft long and 70+ft wide! To my knowledge, it is the largest leather Pride flag in North America, and possibly the world!
I love being part of the leather scene in Minnesota. I’ve met some amazing, sexy, brilliant, incredible people here, and all my leather and leather-curious followers should come check it out!
Hi, all! Your friendly Minnesota leathergirl here!
I wanted to provide a little plug for Minnesota Leather Pride, the organization that provides support to all the local leather groups in Minnesota.
They have a store! You can purchase their annual dog tag, a collector’s item and piece of history that honors the place, people, and progeny of the Minnesota leather scene. If you come to an MNLP event, you can purchase pieces of our historic leather pride flag, which have been made into buttons and pins!
MNLP also has a community calendar, which every leather group submits events to. You can find BLUF, rubber, M/s, men’s groups, dyke groups (like mine!!), and more! If there is a leather or leather-adjacent group in Minnesota you’re interested in, MNLP will have it for you!
Minnesota Leather Pride is entirely community run, not for profit, and focused on uplifting the groups and clubs in Minnesota! Check us out below:

Rainbow capitalism was good actually, for many reasons.
It wasn't that long ago that banks and companies would refuse to serve gay people. People are going all the way up to the Supreme Court to enshrine the right not to serve LGBTQ people in their business. Rainbow capitalism showed which companies were safe to do business with and it pressured other companies to do the same.
Likewise, companies did and do try to discrominate against LGBTQ employees. Rainbow capitalism let employees be open about their identities and feel safe. The 50 year old gay man marching with Bank of America may have hidden his sexuality for decades because it wasn't safe to come out at work.
It helped set top down societal values and norms that LGBTQ people are a welcome part of society.
It pressured companies to adopt nondiscrimination policies and DEI policies.
It made companies donate to pride celebrations and LGBTQ causes.
with mixed success, it provided powerful and visible allies for political change, like the Respect for Marriage Act. Businesses pulled out of North Carolina and forced it to go back on a bathroom bill.
The drawdown of rainbow capitalism has real consequences. Pride celebrations losing corporate sponsorships means they are not able to hold those celebrations. DEI programs are being rolled back. Companies are buying less from queer owned businesses. Support for gay marriage is actually decreasing in polls.
Are these all cause and effect? No. Is it sometimes just a lagging indicator? Yeah. Are fair weather allies like big corps really not great? Yeah.
Like we're seeing greater threats to LGBTQ people and rights now than in 20 years and if you're still complaining about rainbow capitalism or having to qualify it by saying "I know rainbow capitalism is bad but" then I think you've lost the plot as surely as we've lost some of our biggest most powerful and most visible allies
I love when a character wants to be someone's dog so so bad. Dont mean it in a sexual way (although that can also be a part of it) I mean like. Let me be your loyal companion let me stay by your side give me a purpose in exchange for endless unconditional love let me stop being a person love me like it's my only use. Love me like that's the only thing I was made for. As you can tell. I'm normal.

Minnesota’s Giant Rainbow and Leather Pride Flags
June 28, 1998. Both flags measured approximately 50 feet wide and 75 feet long.
Friendly reminder that the leather flag predates almost every other flag. We owe this community to leather daddies and kinksters
In the era of corporate sanitization never forget it was leather daddies and S&M folks who protected some of the earliest pride parades.
Three years after that last comment and the corporate backers are fleeing as the moment the political tide turned - the kinksters aren’t.
Of course the kinksters aren’t, kink is still criminalised.
Make sure you’re showing up for the kink community like the kink community has for you.
one big thing i think people outside fandom (like, all fandoms, fandom in general, not any particular one) tend to misunderstand is they know it's a subculture of people who are weirdly deeply invested in fictional media, and they hear about drama caused by people in those subcultures being unhinged in not-fun ways, and they think the unhingedness comes from the fact of being overinvested in works of fiction.
which is a natural assumption, but in my experience that's not really the case? like in my experience the drama llamas in fandom are usually not the ones who are just genuinely very deeply into the fiction. i've known people who are basically thinking about star trek or x-men comics or supernatural pretty much 100% of their free time and ime that type of person is usually very nice and surprisingly functional in their regular life. when someone's a constant nexus of fandom drama it's usually not that they are obsessed with the actual work of fiction the fandom is about, it's at least one of the following:
what they're obsessed with is not the source material but their unhealthy parasocial relationships with one or more of the people who created it
what they're obsessed with is not the source material but some elaborate shared-universe subset of fanfic about it that's only barely related to the original at this point, and/or an esoteric reading-against-the-text reinterpretation of the source material (often if the canon is active and ongoing this leads to becoming actively hostile toward it for its inevitably increasing failure to conform to their preferred fanon)
what they're obsessed with is not the source material but the fandom itself and gathering clout within it, so that the source material basically only exists to them as a tool for scoring points in increasingly arcane fandom disputes
and very often you get the same person doing 2 and sometimes even all 3 of these, and that's where the trouble really starts
holy shit I've never seen this articulated but OP is EXACTLY RIGHT.
"You should create for yourself" and "it's okay to feel discouraged when creating your own original projects if no one interacts with them" are two sentences that should be able to co-exist with each other
On the one hand, you should kill that capitalist in your head that tells you to make art only for the enjoyment of other people. On the other hand, it's totally fine to be disappointed that you spent hours or even days on something that only got 4 notes. You can feel both ways.
I wanted to post about this because I know many of my mutuals are avid crafters and I don't know how much attention this endeavour is getting outside of end-of-life spaces-
The Loose Ends Project matches crafters with a project that is unfinished because of death or disability. They offer help with a spectrum of textile mediums in over 80 countries. One project I find particularly lovely: “My mom was making this octopus for me. She was 67 years old when she passed away from COPD. She was hospitalized for pulmonary rehab several times and would always take it to work on while she was there and loved to talk about it with people."
(the red heart marks the last stitch made by this person's mom) Anyway, if something like this is something you'd like to be involved in, they are always looking for more crafters <3
My favourite recent finishing project that they posted about wasn't precisely something that the crafter left unfinished. The knitter in question had had dementia, and thought she was knitting scarves. So a finisher was found to piece all the little bits of knitting together into a blanket.
I love when platonic love and romantic love is so blurred that it doesn’t even matter anymore. All that matters is the devotion that’s there, the unwavering devotion

There’s an emotion only unlocked when you live in a house with multiple stories. I call it “the stair emotion” and it’s when you realize the object you need is on the other side of yet another trip up and down those goddamn stairs. It’s the closest I get to transcending the desire for material goods. Maybe I don’t need that notebook. Maybe I don’t need anything.
