He doesn’t seem to have a purpose this time, and the guard doesn’t bother him. He seems lost, resigned. Eddie feels for the guy, with his sad blue eyes and hunched shoulders. He’s lost something, Eddie can tell and Eddie wishes he could tell him that he’s lost something too. --- Eddie ends up in The Empty after he dies, and meets Castiel.
A Haunted House with a Picket Fence

He’s not sure if he’s fighting inadequacy or giving into hubris when he says, “Sure thing,” but it looks like he has a haunted house to plan. --- Steve is put in charge of a haunted house fundraiser to help rebuild Hawkins. Eddie decides to help.

Eddie gives a sarcastic little ta-da when he blows out the candles, which his three friends respond to with rapturous applause. Robin asks what he wishes for, and he insists that he can’t tell them because it won’t come true. In reality, he can’t tell them because there seem to be so many: wishing for the calls to stop, wishing for something to happen between him and Steve, wishing for something to make him feel like this forever. --- Eddie turns 30 and 20 and 35, and starts to build a home.

Eddie knows who he is. He knows who he is to himself and he knows who he is to other people. He’s a lovable nuisance to his uncle. He’s an easy lay with long enough hair they can pretend he’s close enough to a girl that they can still be straight to some of the jocks. He’s a shepherd for the Hellfire kids (that’s the him he likes the best). And he’s a lazy burnout to anyone who needs to do schoolwork with him. He’s definitely a lazy burnout to Barbara.
Eddie and Barb are assigned to the same group project in 1983.

It’s kinda nice, all things considered. Every once in a while, Eddie remembers that they are here because an entire town thinks that he is a devil-worshipping murderer ,and that Steve put his entire life on hold to be with him, oh, and can’t forget that the whole reason he was accused in the first place is monsters are real and there’s at least one shadow dimension that tried to take over their world. He misses his uncle sometimes. He misses the kids. But all things considered, he’s doing okay. Especially with Steve by his side. --- Steve and Eddie hide out in Chicago while the Hawkins crew clears Eddie's name. Feelings ensue.

Dean had some ideas for what he might do with his life if he ever gave up hunting. A mechanic, maybe. A bartender, hell, maybe even open up his own place someday. He never once thought he would end up as a musician.
Dean gets hired as the in-house musician at a local bar, and his set list reminds him of Cas.
