honestly yeah
has anyone considered that it was probably her house too. where else was she supposed to put her chintz?
yknow its interesting how something can impact one demographic in a completely different way than everyone else. in the exorcist when the demon starts speaking in greek, to most people its creepy. but if youre greek and you suddenly start hearing the demon speak perfect fucking greek its genuinely the biggest scare of the movie. you just do not expect to ever hear your language in american movies so it catches you so badly off guard, it feels like the movie is talking directly to you
the first time my dad saw it, it was with his american friends. and when she started speaking greek he turned to one of them and was like "re malaka did you hear that in english?"
i saw this somewhere else but reply / tag what you did today so everyone can see that we all did something different today

i don't know what older adults were on about when they said being a teenager was good <3
so funny how the older u get ur like how the fuck on gods green earth did people used to manage all th- ahhh.. i need one of these wives everybody keeps talking about..
"how was X so successful and productive and achieving?" wife feeding and clothing and cleaning and shopping and parenting for them and also probably booking appointments and personal receptionist work. AND stimulant abuse. and shes supposed to suck you off whenever. id kill him too #feminists
did anyone else know that if you keep waiting for the right time you’ll end up waiting forever??
How is it that every time I go to the doctor for a chronic problem they can't do anything to help me and I just "have to wait for it to pass". And that's if they don't suggest it's psychosomatic, as if psychosomatic means fake

we're far too culturally obsessed with men who are mean and rough around the edges but turn out to be big softies underneath it all when, in reality, most men who are like this are simply dicks

went to the doctor and I basically ran there because they would close in half an hour but there was no queue, so when I got there they immediately ushered me in and I was still in rush mode + sweaty (embarrassing) because it's hot af so I run through my whole explanation, expecting the doctor to be like "maybe it's psychosomatic" so I even told him why it couldn't be psychosomatic but he didn't say anything actually so I just overshared with a doctor or maybe I sounded like I was being all arrogant, the fuck do I know. and then he was like "well why are you here then" which was super embarrassing and I said that I wanted to do bloodwork and he was super available immediately wrote down what they should look for etc but then since I was still feeling hurried I rushed off saying goodbye twenty times while he was still trying to talk to me. moral of the story I'm never going to see this doctor again I'm too embarrassed
i get that americans love their cultural imperialism, but it really does piss me off that june is “international” pride month just because something happened in the united states.
in aotearoa, june isn’t our pride, it’s theirs. marsha p johnson and sylvia rivera are their historical figures, not ours. the phrase that “you owe your rights to Black trans women” is true there, but here we owe our rights to (mostly) Māori historical figures. i have the freedoms i do because of the legacy of an entirely different set of people operating in an entirely different context at entirely different times.
But because of american cultural imperialism, most queer people in Aotearoa don’t even know our own queer history. Carmen Rupe, Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, the Dorian Society, Gillian Laundon, Georgina Beyer, and the Wolfenden Association are some of our queer history. We should know their names! we should know what they did for us! but because of the power of the american imperial machine, we don’t.
our national pride month should be july, the month that the Homosexual Law Reform Act passed in 1986. our two largest cities hold their pride festivals in february and march, respectively. american queer history has very little (or nothing, depending on who you ask) to do with our queer history. anecdotally, from my own queries, queer youth in aotearoa know more about american queer history than our own.
anyway, happy pride, americans. i’m truly sorry that most of you don’t see the negative impact your nation’s culture has on the rest of the world. and to the rest of the world reading this, try searching for your own country and culture’s queer history, don’t accept the american narratives as your own. we deserve our own histories divorced from the cultural hegemony of the USA.
