i have never related more to laios dunmeshi until i realized that the experience of being into eating bugs is like. one of the closest real world equivalents there is to his interest in eating monsters.
it grosses people out - sometimes for good reason but often for nothing beyond assumptions and biases that are completely untrue. it makes people think I'm weird and unsettling despite it not only being harmless but actually having the potential to be very helpful - feeding people is easier if you expand what you're willing to consider trying. my interests in other stuff is treated far differently, but even among other autistic people bringing up my interest in eating bugs is prone to get me yelled at to stop being gross.
also it's extremely rare for me to find someone who shares the interest at all but you best bet your ass if i made friends with the entomophagy equivalent of senshi i would hold tight to that friendship and never let go. as it is joseph yoon's video on cooking bugs is saved on my phone to longingly look at while i wait in hopes that someday I'll get access to those ingredients and the know-how to cook and eat them.
so uh. not sure what to do with that information lmao
do i. do i need to put us all in the dungeon meshi torment nexus. do i need to trap us all in a cave and create a veritable army of spiders georgs out of humanity? I'm not doing that! I don't wanna!!!! i just want people to broadly be open to new experiences!!!! not even everyone!!
