#I still would like to make an almost normal vhaerunite priest (maybe to use twilight cleric a little....)#but also my attachment to the baldur's gate vhaerunite cell does mean still going to be a liiiittle sideways #with it being a group with a firm lack of much structure or separation between clergy and lay members where those who are closer #to traditional priests tend more towards just having a heaver focus in care for the whole and who gets pushed forward when #needing a specific face or to take the fall to protect everyone else.#......I need to actually to the whole write up on them because I adore them.

#And this is why it feels like such a painfully missed opportunity to have Drow and Gith placed as companion factions just because #you can make them sound //so// similar on paper and in many ways in their structure.#........And then it all falls apart in how that structure actually functions because of that Lawful/Chaotic difference.#(plus bg3 put's the illithid element in since Lolthite Drow working with them even with both having a very 'as long as the other is useful'#mindset going on is obviously appealing to me....)#(and similarly with //every// evil faction being very much lawful Drow have that potential to be a thorn in everyone here's side.)

I love a bitch who just does shit and everyone else has to weather it or die.#and with Drow just what that does to a society when that's the norm.#.......I'm realizing in this moment this is the same line of thought that causes me to attach to Alice in Wonderland.......

And this is why I tend to think Drow are probably the only rivals to humans in terms of being able to adapt quickly to not circumstances. Still not to that point, I can't take away human's whole bag as a FR race after all, but it's their biggest positive attribute I hc them having especially compared to surface elves.

srb soz but i legitimately think this mentality of ‘everyone is meat for Lolth’s pleasure and not a person’ sums up Lolthite culture so succinctly… like there is no amount of status you can be born into or amass that will guarantee your safety because your life is subject to the whims of a cruel and capricious goddess. literally just look at Danifae from the War of the Spider Queen series: she was born a drow noblewoman and yet despite basically having as much safety as a drow possibly can on the basis of gender and social class, she was still victimized by a drow man with lower status than her and then later enslaved and sex trafficked by a priestess.

like udadrow just are never safe no matter how desperately they scrabble for power to protect themselves. there’s no winning when you’re under Lolth’s thumb
