i feel like the youth should be reminded that the point of shipping is not for a ship to become canon. the point of shipping is to collect all the canon crumbs like starved mice, run away cackling and make some fun little scenarios with them just for the hell of it.
this technically is true but I think this also perfectly encapsulates why I am inherently distrustful of like. ββcozyββ βturn your brain offβ fiction lmfao. like okay WHO gets to turn their brain off and who has to suffer through bigoted caricatures of themselves while everyone else is having cozy silly no brain time π
Boncat Fever has been making the rounds in my local news because it's range has been expanding into my state. One thing I don't understand is, how is something as incredibly acutely fatal as this only just becoming more well known by the general public even in it's original range?
I'm guessing part of it has to do with cats being treated as members of the family more often rather than just random animals that kinda hang around?
(note: anon is asking about bobcat fever aka cytauxzoonosis, but i'm going to keep calling it bobcat fever because it's a lot easier to spell)
i think it's less well-known for a few factors. Historically, it was confined to a (relatively) small region. It's also a fairly new disease; it was only described in the 70's. It's still considered an emerging disease.
It kills pretty quickly, so i think a lot of bobcat fever cases were probably missed entirely. When I was a kid, people let their cats outside. A lot. It was common knowledge that when a cat is 'ready to die', they simply disappear. I think that sort of lackadaisical attitude contributed a lot. Plus, like you said, cats were considered more disposable compared to dogs (honestly, they STILL are, but that's an entirely different bucket of worms that i don't want to put my hands in right now).
I feel like I should emphasize just how deadly it is and how quickly it kills. It has an almost 100% death rate if left untreated and, once symptoms show, the cat dies within a few days. Even with very aggressive treatment, we're looking at a 50-60% survival rate. And symptoms don't show up immediately. It takes a week or two for them to set in.
Symptoms include:
Lethargy
Jaundice (yellowing of the skin; this is easiest to see on a cat's gumline or their inner ear)
"America is so young compared to other countries, we have no real history!"
We have archeological sites that are thousands of years old with evidence that people have been here for much longer, you just don't consider Native people part of this country's history unless we're being killed by colonists.

Of course the dog is paid! It's a piecework job. He gets paid (likely a high value treat but could be play with a high value toy) every time he finds a truffle!
If you want to support intersex people, stop using the TMA/TME binary.
Iβm saying this as an intersex person.
The general consensus (from what Iβve seen) is that TMA means βtransmisogyny affectedβ and TME means βtransmisogyny exemptβ. At first it sounds like a good binary, but quickly falls apart once you see its flaws.
In usage, TMA refers exclusively to transfeminine or βAMABβ people. It does not acknowledge the transmisogyny faced by those who would be exempt from it.
For example, a gender-nonforming cis woman would face transmisogyny for looking like a transgender woman. Would she still be TME, despite being a target?
An intersex man would be considered TME, but if he goes through an estrogenising puberty that makes him look feminine and become a target of transmisogyny, would he become TMA or stay TME?
Is a non-binary person TME or TMA? I know it depends on their assigned gender at birth, which makes the whole point of this flawed system completely moot.
And ignoring all those said flaws, what is the point of inventing entirely new binaries just to show who is βexemptβ from bigotry, when everyone can face it one way or another?
What about the entire intersex community, who canβt neatly fit into every single binary you make? What about those who canβt be categorised as βTMEβ, nor βTMAβ?
It is simply intersexist in almost every way. There is no point of showing who can be and canβt be affected by transmisogyny when you refuse to acknowledge the millions of people who donβt neatly fit in a binary.
And if your first thought is some form of βI donβt careβ or βtheyβre TME by defaultβ then you are the problem. This sort of binary is actively harming the community and only putting everybody in a divide.
Stop making useless binaries and actually focus on the real problems that plague the world!
Focus on the transgender men who are being silenced because of their assigned sex at birth!
Focus on the intersex babies being forcibly mutilated before they can even crawl!
Focus on the transgender people facing execution, possibly being stoned or flogged for the mere act of being transgender!
Focus on SOMETHING ELSE! Do a change in the world! Advocate for your community! Protest transphobic laws, regulations and policies that are being passed around the world!
Stop focusing on yourself, and help the people everywhere who are being actively kicked out of their homes, killed, and mutilated against their will for being queer!
And most importantly, stop referring to yourself as βTMEβ or βTMAβ. It helps no one and only signals to the wrong people. It actively divides the community and harms everybody.
All of this is happening around the world, even in some of the most progressive nations. This is not limited to the βbackwardsβ and βsavageβ countries. This can happen in yours, too!
My own country has me banned from a normal life for being queer. I face a potential death penalty for being gay. I wonβt even be able to go on Hajj if anyone finds out Iβm transgender. I wonβt even be able to practice my own culture!
I am forced to stay in a shell that isnβt mine. A shell with spikesβone I can not move in and one I can barely breathe in.
And Iβm supposed to care about being βTMEβ and respecting every single order from radfems who live privileged lives where there is little to worry aboutβwhere most of their problems are little and far in-between.
I am supposed to respect the same people who hate my mere existence, who want me dead for the mistake of being a man, while the people around me actively talk about the βdiseaseβ that is queerness and how they want to protect me from it.
I am supposed to shut my mouth and let the people who mutter βtheyfabβ, βtransandrobroβ, and every single other slur under the sun at me speak for the entire community.
While my own people are ACTIVELY being shunned out of society for acting gay. For crossdressing. For having a face that looks even slightly feminine or too far from their assigned sex.
While my own people are being forced to βget fixedβ. To undergo genital surgery for being intersex. While they are being actively murdered for having ambiguous genitalia.
And you care about me not being your model view of a good queer?

I also think that the strength gap is at least partially manufactured women would in fact be stronger overall if little girls were encouraged to do physically taxing games and activities and eat their fill while theyβre growing vs having to constantly diet and be sedentary indoors (or god forbid do intense cardio while under-eating). The amount of adult women honestly afraid to lift weights bc they think theyβll get bulky as though bulking isnβt a full time job that athletes have to spend all their time on and anyone on earth gets shredded from just using their adult muscles for their intended purpose, girl your bone density π₯
if you say women are intentionally nerfed from birth in 2026 people look at you like youβre insane and start condescendingly telling you about how women are just better at different things (but not during their periods haha) but this was a completely basic feminist talking point I grew up with like βgirls can do it too! [shot of little girls climbing and running with boys]β nickelodeon commercial tier base level I hate it how is everyone suddenly dumber than the average 7 year old
Well. I am thinking, now. I despised & avoided[*l the situations that confined me but not my amab sibs; I hated being still. Furthermore, I had one of those constantly-starving skeletal metabolisms so I guess I lucked out of a lot of pressure to diet. I was a horse girl, carrying feed bags and hay bales, walking fencelines and repairing shelters, wrassling thousand pound animals to do my bidding. When I couldn't go to the barn, I got on my bike and rode for hours[**].
I discovered at university that indeed, I was stronger than most of the people I knew, of any gender.
At the time I assumed it was the activity, that anyone who pursued active hobbies would be as strong. I hadn't considered it, but this makes a lot of sense: For an afab, I did have an unusual, solid foundation of nutrition and exercise, going all the way back to my toddler times.
[*] "You can't climb or swing in your nice dress, they might see your underwear!" Next time I wore shorts underneath. "You can't get your nice dress dirty or torn!" Next time I brought a change of clothes. I was *all* about the loopholes and I. did. not. want. to. sit. still.
[**] The stuff about GenX parenting is true, folks, my mother never even asked where I had been. Nobody had cell phones. I doubt a 12-yr-old can manage this now. And good gravy, was I lucky.

In 2026, the chicest thing a gay actor can do is never explicitly come out as gay but also make it abundantly clear that he is. Coming out is too modern. Staying closeted is too old fashioned. But this method merges contemporary freedom with Old Hollywood glamour and allure, and it weeds out the dumbest people who truly donβt get it. I call it the Pascal Method.
You clearly don't go here or to queer history and signaling, or both, enough to have this conversation and I'm not going to explain it to you. You could have asked questions, you could have done even a modicum of research. You didn't and you made yourself look ignorant. Goodbye.
