very unwell today. Spaniels being their usual helpful selves, fetching stuff I knock over or drop. Spaniels also think they're going to be paid (again; Tristan's Fetch and Tug Buddy or Auntie the Tertiary Human have already paid them) in my saltines, which exhibits very typical optimism π
After my brief but faaaar too long stay in Thumb-Monkey Doggy ER, the Spaniels were soooo excited to have me home (oh my ouppies, I missed you terribly while suffering the Torture Rack of Noisy Bed Constantly Inflating and Shifting Under Me While I Was Somehow Supposed to Sleep) Gwyn couldn't decide if she was more happy to have me, or suspicious of Hospital Stink on my chair. Tristan decided to bring me everything in the house, and also investigate my face, breath, and tonsils for additional clues.
Gwyn has this thing she does when she's very enthused for cuddles, she sort of pre-fits herself to you and then leans until the jigsaw pieces meet. She's been doing it for h9urs every time she leaves me even for a moment, and it's so OH MY HEART.

Gwyn brought me a stray[*] towel, which I threw over her head in our usual game. You can see Tristan hurrying up to get his treat, whenever the game ends. He'll be patient and quiet and knows he won't be forgottdn, because he has Spaniel Eyes. Meanwhile Gwyn will be wrasslin' with her towel.
[*] it was not stray

I also think that the strength gap is at least partially manufactured women would in fact be stronger overall if little girls were encouraged to do physically taxing games and activities and eat their fill while theyβre growing vs having to constantly diet and be sedentary indoors (or god forbid do intense cardio while under-eating). The amount of adult women honestly afraid to lift weights bc they think theyβll get bulky as though bulking isnβt a full time job that athletes have to spend all their time on and anyone on earth gets shredded from just using their adult muscles for their intended purpose, girl your bone density π₯
if you say women are intentionally nerfed from birth in 2026 people look at you like youβre insane and start condescendingly telling you about how women are just better at different things (but not during their periods haha) but this was a completely basic feminist talking point I grew up with like βgirls can do it too! [shot of little girls climbing and running with boys]β nickelodeon commercial tier base level I hate it how is everyone suddenly dumber than the average 7 year old
Well. I am thinking, now. I despised & avoided[*l the situations that confined me but not my amab sibs; I hated being still. Furthermore, I had one of those constantly-starving skeletal metabolisms so I guess I lucked out of a lot of pressure to diet. I was a horse girl, carrying feed bags and hay bales, walking fencelines and repairing shelters, wrassling thousand pound animals to do my bidding. When I couldn't go to the barn, I got on my bike and rode for hours[**].
I discovered at university that indeed, I was stronger than most of the people I knew, of any gender.
At the time I assumed it was the activity, that anyone who pursued active hobbies would be as strong. I hadn't considered it, but this makes a lot of sense: For an afab, I did have an unusual, solid foundation of nutrition and exercise, going all the way back to my toddler times.
[*] "You can't climb or swing in your nice dress, they might see your underwear!" Next time I wore shorts underneath. "You can't get your nice dress dirty or torn!" Next time I brought a change of clothes. I was *all* about the loopholes and I. did. not. want. to. sit. still.
[**] The stuff about GenX parenting is true, folks, my mother never even asked where I had been. Nobody had cell phones. I doubt a 12-yr-old can manage this now. And good gravy, was I lucky.
I absolutely blame Facebook for this shift. Words cannot describe how freaking WEIRD it was in the mid-00s when there was suddenly this popular website where you were required to use your real, brickspace name and encouraged to post photos of yourself. Every single bit of Standard Internet Safety prior to then said that you should never ever ever do either of those.
'Round about the time fb was getting big, so was the idea that anonymity permitted, nay encouraged, trolling. FB and Google+ (remember them?) pushed this idea hard, that if you used your real name, you would be constrained to use Real Life manners. After all, everyone would know who you were! CEO of Google gave a lot of interviews claiming no one could possibly misbehave online under their Real Name, it would besmirch their Real Life. And actually, literally said, "if you haven't done anything wrong, you have nothing to hide."
That aged well.
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3

Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

This got more traction than I imagined and has motivated me to make a more thorough survey where I can actually parse the data.
No email is necessary to input to complete the survey. Please also consider sharing this off tumblr with people in your life to get a broader sample, especially people who love history and love museums!
Please give your thoughts on Generative AI (such as Sora, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) usage in museums, archives, and other cultural heritage sit
The Prettiest Princess
A short story about a very clever puppy, in three parts.
[Image Description 1: Tristanβs blue puzzle spinner is covered in toys he has pulled off of it, which is how we use it. On the side, two bolts with blue plastic hold the spinner together.]
[Image Description 2: Tristan, a black and white cocker spaniel, lays with one paw on the spinnerβs base, chewing on one of the bolts.]
[Image Description 3: One blue plastic covered bolt has been unscrewed from the puzzle spinner. It doesnβt have much in the way of tooth marks. I thought he would just chew at these bolts, I didnβt think he would unscrew them. Iβm so proud of the little rascal.]

~Mischief&Order~
A short story in six parts, or, more evidence that cocker spaniels are cats.
[Image Descriptions: A roll of toilet paper sits on the center of a wooden bed headboard. A cocker spaniel reaches for the loose end, pulls the end backwards until he tears a piece off. In the last photo, a hair scrunchie around the roll keeps the TP secured.]
reminded of this today, because the struggle is ongoing π€£
Once upon a time, when I got my hands on beads, I threw them around my neck to play and fiddle and fidget with them. Now, I share the shiny fun, with EVERYBODY.
My hand slipped ...
