This was supposed to be my last piece of 2025, but it ended up being the first of 2026

Anyway! I relistened to all Magnus Chase books this week and I finally did something I've wanted to do for a long time: An animatic of one of my favorite moments

When Blitzen visited House Alderman for the first time, he was too afraid to even look to Alderman. The best Blitzen could do was make Hearthstone promise to never return. Hearthstone promised, but Blitzen was furious at himself. How dare anyone treat Hearthstone like that - and how dare Blitzen be too frozen in fear to stop them.

The second time Blitzen visited, he woke up in a House Alderman shower. The nøkks were wreaking havoc, and there was not time to stand up to Alderman. Blitzen fled in fear. Again.

Blitzen's shame and fury began to build. Hearthstone, the most important person in his life, had spent every moment of his childhood with this terror and abuse. Still, Blitzen could only stand and shake in the man's presence.

Then, Alderman dragon arrived.

Hearthstone stood in the line of fire, as he had always done. No mother to protect him. No brother to share the fury. Alone as always.

The fire-breathing dragon faced the elf.
